Have you ever heard Dame speak ill of a player?
He doesn't praise them all nor experience playing them either...I stand by my view of his opinion...Stotts too...I never water down their take on players or anything hoop oriented..I think greatness stems from positive affirmation as well as hard work

I don't know if you saw my post in the game thread but Layman only initially entered the game because Stotts asked Hood to come in and he ran back to the locker room and didn't come out for several minutes. Stotts stood around puzzled for a second before basically having to put Layman in. Once Layman got in the game it would have been impossible to take him out. Who knows if he would've even played if not for that? Hopefully Stotts learned something about the lineups that game.

If you saw what I saw there is no way you could give credit to Stotts until he shows consistently that Layman deserves to play.
Shrug, I guess we'll just see what happens next game.

I do have respect for people who are successful at their career and the knowledge their experience brings....this place cracks me up at times....arm chair experts are all around. Some of the guys under the microscope actually are the experts.

I agree with Charles Barkley. The people on the on the Internet don't know nothin.'

If you had asked Dame a week ago what he thought of Sauce, or Baldwin, or Swanigan you would have gotten an equally glowing review. It's great that Dame doesn't throw his team-mates under the bus in public...but don't mistake diplomacy as an objective evaluation.

Thus spake Charles I-bullshit-for-a-living Barkley! :biglaugh:

Charles Barkley has been my favorite athlete for most of my adult life. And on a lot of things he's full of shit. But on a lot of others he's absolutely bang on correct. I'd say that's no worse than the average politician. He get's paid to spout crap. But that isn't the stuff he's right about.

He said he thought Swanigan could win ROY.

....

Time will tell, but, for everyone trying to brace for Hood to drop after one game like Stauskas did, something to keep in mind: Hood is a vastly superior player and has had a vastly superior career.

Hood and Sauce entered the NBA the same year. Stauskas has averaged 6.9 ppg for his career. Hood never has averaged fewer than 8.7 points in a season and only been under double figures once.

Hood's been better than Sauce consistently in every statistical measure. He even is a better 3-point shooter and free throw shooter than Stauskas, and that was Stauskas' calling card.

Is Rodney Hood Good?

Or Garbage

So far he looks an AWFUL lot like the latter.

Nothing has really changed.

Inconsistent shooter and overwhelmed vs certain matchups defensively. More of a rhythm player so I think he's struggled playing limited minutes along with having fewer opportunities to post up and run pnr, especially since Kanter entered the mix.

I think he's better than advertised defensively. He's doing really good work on that end from the eye test. He's been inconsistent offensively from game to game. He either has it or not. Very hot or cold from game to game. Overall he's been a positive upgrade I'd say despite shooting terribly tonight.

He's being misused. If Stotts played Nurkic at PG, his performances would suck, but it wouldnt be indicative of him as a player or how good he is.

I don’t mind Hood, I feel better with him out there than ET. I honestly don’t expect him back next year though. I also don’t see Curry back, he averages 17 min a game, the TWO guards we drafted last year can’t match Seth’s production(6/1/1) in 17 min a game between them? I also think Chief is gonna take some serious home town discount to try and stay.

Out of Chief/Moe/Hood/ET/Leonard I think if I had to keep one it would be Moe, still only 27 and if he ever figured out consistency he’d be a VERY good peice.

Hood strength is taking the defense off the dribble but with Kanter setting at the low posts position that has limited that from his game by taking more 3's. This game you might see him attacking more with either Leonard or Zach in there because they don't clog the middle.

Makes no sense to me. Having a Center that cant shoot 3s isnt the reason hes not attacking. You dont need 4 shooters around you to be able to drive and attack the basket.

Nearly all of his shots lately are the result of drive and kick and post double spot ups.

And Hood has never been a guy that attacks the rim. Has taken less than 12% of his shots directly at the rim in his career.

But hes a guy who likes dribbling into floaters, push shots, and mid-range pullups. Hes good when curling around screens and even when handling the ball in the pick n roll.

Using him as a spot-up shooter only is ridiculous.

And we've seen all of that in small doses.

Kanter has changed things though. But I agree Rodney should be getting more opportunities to mid post, run PNR and come off pins even with Kanter out there.

It takes time to incorperate new players. Let's see how things progress.

Not in the past couple games, especially not yesterday. Yesterday he was used like Seth Curry.
