I honestly want Stotts fired, maybe Olshey, just so we can move on and hear about the next problem.

Terry's stock is prolly higher now than ever before among national circles. The risk with us bombing next season is really high, and most likely not worth taking if he wants longevity.I'm sure Terry has suiters, but find it hard to believe he wouldn't want one last shot at least with this team.
To be fair knowing myself and s2, we would still complain about the Coach and GM when things don't work out.I honestly want Stotts fired, maybe Olshey, just so we can move on and hear about the next problem.

And that's just it. I hate Doc Rivers. HATE him. But he's clearly vastly better than Terry. Ditto D'Antoni. I don't want either of them coaching the Blazers - but I also don't want Terry coaching them. The Clippers won 2 games as the #8 seed.
Terry would NEVER agree with this.Sometimes you have to lose a couple games in the regular season so you can be a better team for the playoffs.
Don't really blame him. A few more losses in the west and you're out of the playoffs. We aren't GS to have that luxury to mess around.Terry would NEVER agree with this.
who in your mind would be that coach, to take this team to the next level,?And that's just it. I hate Doc Rivers. HATE him. But he's clearly vastly better than Terry. Ditto D'Antoni. I don't want either of them coaching the Blazers - but I also don't want Terry coaching them.
Not sure if your Rondo comment is in response to me or not. But I'm pretty sure that last night I posted something about merely swapping out Turner for Rondo would be a huge step forward in shoring up our back court. Not that it's realistic, just a quick example of getting an actual vet back-up PG to replace Turner.Would Rhondo be a decent addition.

He got hired by the Kings and is battling a sexual assault case in court.I know a lot of people feel Luke Walton is overrated, and perhaps he is. But again, his pedigree intrigues me:
Just given the coaches and players that he's been around gives him a huge amount of knowledge that Terry can only dream of.

D'oh! How could I forget!?He got hired by the Kings and is battling a sexual assault case in court.
Most coaches who have won in the playoffs and who have a ton of experience come with the ego. A strong front office will be key.Stan Van Gundy usually wants control of at least a portion of basketball decisions. I think he also wears out his welcome. Udoka I think will be a really good coach.
How do you figure? Many people feel they're about to lose a good portion of their current roster. And even if they retain some of those guys, the cost will put them over the cap. So they'll likely return with a worse roster. You can rest assured that GSW will be better in whatever form they return in.
Again, how do you figure? Pretty sure they're over the cap if they choose to re-sign Millsap. Even if they do bring him back, I think they're ripe for a back-slide. They seem like a classic example of a team that overachieved and won't have the same success without first making a few big moves (which they can't really do given their cap situation).Denver will be clearly better too.

Best coach we've had in the 30 years I've been watching the Blazers. That was a classic example of firing a coach because you thought you could get someone better, when you actually couldn't. We did that with Dunleavy as well.

I understand people think it's going to be tough to bring a similar team back next year but a really high risk of us bombing next year? C'mon man.Terry's stock is prolly higher now than ever before among national circles. The risk with us bombing next season is really high, and most likely not worth taking if he wants longevity.
should have put into perspective. My floor for next year is first round loss. Is that risk worth it for Terry?I understand people think it's going to be tough to bring a similar team back next year but a really high risk of us bombing next year? C'mon man.
I don't think we'll "bomb" next year, I do think the CJ/Dame/Stotts combo knows they can't beat GS so their ceiling is being beaten in 4 (maybe 5) whenever they hit GS. Need to either accept and be ok with that being the ceiling or break it all up.I understand people think it's going to be tough to bring a similar team back next year but a really high risk of us bombing next year? I'm suggesting that stotts' coughing tree might not be that impressive if they can't land jobs. Prolly a reach
Stotts on Lillard's injury
"I wasn't much aware of it," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said of Lillard's injury, denying he knew the health status of his most important player. "I didn't know how much it was bothering him until [Saturday]."

As to the coach - I really don't pay enough attention to the rest of the league, or other basketball leagues, to have a strong opinion on potential targets. I'm of the opinion that most coaches in the NBA are of roughly the same ability as Terry, and that there are probably no more than 2-3 truly great coaches, followed by maybe 5-7 good coaches, and the rest are either Terry-level or trash. I don't expect that any of the good/great coaches are available. So with that in mind, I'd like to hunt out fresh talent rather than a retread. But if we do go with a retread, I'd go for Van Gundy (either). I think there might be another couple ex-coaches along the lines of the VGs, but I can't think of them ATM.
As I said, I'm not familiar with any assistants, but I am curious about Ime Udoka. If he's not a good candidate, then so be it. But I'm intrigued by him for the following reasons:
I think those three things would give him the necessary cachet to immediately have the respect of the players - particularly Dame, given how important his connection to the community is.

I don't think either of these guys are likely to "take us to the next level" starting next season, but would rather be someone we could grow the team with over the next few seasons. If there IS someone out there with experience that can immediately build upon this season I'd certainly go for whoever that is.
But I do want to circle back and end this by stating that I don't have any strong feelings about WHO replaces Terry, just that he be replaced by someone. Once those that have a wide knowledge base of the various coaches from the various basketball leagues narrow the search to a handful of coaches, then I'll be able to learn a little about each candidate and come up with an opinion on which one I'd prefer.
Are you including guys like Kobe or Lebron?I've refereed over 8800 hours of basketball. Probably watched well over 15K.
Ime Udoka is the smartest basketball player I've ever seen.
