He is actually a really talented player on both ends of the floor. He would most likely be the best player off the bench hands down. I think the Nuggets can get better than what the nets have to offer so i dont think they would do that deal.</p>

If it's for BRob and Ilic, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's not like they're going to provide anything anyway. JR provides another explosive scorer off the bench, and bringing him back home might help his situation.</p>

Yes indeed. Nets admit to monitoring S Williams environment. Williams only smoked some dope. JR Smith has shown a violent streak and a total immaturity that is now going on four years. Scott and Karl are indeed unlike Frank. Both are difficult NBA coaches to play for. They call out their players publicly...something Frank NEVER does. So maybe playing for someone like Frank would help. The other issue is would he be worse back in NJ with his homeboys or better back in NJ with his family. The "kid" is 22 going on 15.</p>

Nets regularly take chances on players other teams have given up on (Kidd, Carter worked out somewhat...Griffin and McInnis did not) and draft picks with baggage or declining fortunes (M Williams has worked out so far, as has Boone. S Williams still uncertain). Thorn not risk-averse in that way. But JR Smith may have gone beyond the point of no return.</p>

I would trade Wright and Ilic plus a 2nd rounder for him...or BRob and Ilic plus a future 1st rounder...(that of course he we could extend is contract) this would also free up another roster spot. Buyout Ilic (since we just saved about 500,000 with the JR Smith trade)</p>

Our team's success is based off of the BBIQ of the players we put on the floor. I've yet to see JR Smith show any indication he has a shred of it. Maybe I am a fool but I just don't see how adding a streaky 3 point shooter who plays medicore D is more helpful to this team than losing it's best defender off the bench. Is Wright more gifted than Smith? Nope, but he's a better fit with Boki and Marcus's 3's off the bench and their lack of D.</p>

First, Denver wouldn't take BRob and Mile for him. If they make any trade, it would be 2 for 1 in the opposite direction, not taking back 2 players. Additionally, they wouldn't trade for 2 players worse than players they just cut from their roster.</p>

Second, the Denver Front Office is attempting everything they can to get JR to get it. They have not given up on him, even if Karl pretty much has.</p>

JR Smith would be okay if all you look at is his strengths. Fast, athletic, runs the floor, can shoot and he plays above the rim...</p>

However on the minus side... Very streaky shooter (about the same as Kittles, without the defensive prowess), has shown little regard for the spirit of professionalism, not a poor defender in ability but definately in effort (tends to take plays off) and seems to have a massive problem with authority.</p>

He strikes me as another Nate Robinson; great talent, shame he's an asshole..</p>

One of the things that I've realized today is this talk of not taking a gamble....Thorn style. It's been reported that there were a pair of trades on the table back in the summer of 2006. Basically Al Jefferson for RJ or Deng for RJ. Both players had yet to bust out. Both were injury prone supposedly. Thorn nixes both understandably.....but why not gamble, using your ace Jason Kidd as the guy that can rope these guys into shape. Kidd's been this guy that can attrract talent, but why doesn't Thorn realize that Kidd is your leader and sets the example. Kidd has in my mind helped McDyess, Kmart and RJ get their huge paydays.......if Kidd can lead these guys, any player Thorn adds will realize Kidd will help them get a nice payday....just have an ounce of talent.</p>
