Who says he isn't? I mean, it's not like it's rare to promote an assistant after you fire the coach.
I guess I shouldn't have used voice, that's my bad. I don't want him to try to learn something new mid way through his rookie year where he has already struggled but has shown some growth, only to then go for something else new next year. Rather we take our lumps and dump Chauncey in the offseason.

Imagine your kid had a shitty teacher. Wouldn't you want him/her to change teachers IMMEDIATELY?

Mediocre analogy, and why I generally dislike when people try to come up with something that fits very specific situations.

We don't know how the coaching staff all works. Maybe Brooks is the offensive coordinator? Do we want to promote him to run his current system? DO we know if it's Chauncey's offense that he designed himself?

I get why people want him out now. Just my opinion that Scoot has shown growth, he has talent clearly. I think he can continue to improve with what we currently have, and then we look for something better in the offseason.

After watching the first 20 minutes of this debacle, I have changed my vote. I hate to say it, but Billups needs to go as he has clearly lost this team.

Look, this coming draft is so shitty that I don't even see the point of tanking. And I'm not even sure that just giving Scoot the ball and letting him play a ton of minutes and have us lose in blowouts again and again is even good for Scoot. You don't learn from your mistakes if there aren't consequences. And I kind of feel for Brogdon. Right now there's no way that Scoot deserves to start over Brogdon and it just sits wrong how he's being treated. Start the vets and try to win at least up till the trade deadline.

February 8th we play the Pistons. I'm half hoping we lose to them just to spur some change. Plus I live in Michigan and I feel sorry for the Pistons (Monty certainly deserves better).

The more mistakes you make the more likely you are to lose. And wind up on somebody else's poster. And get a lesser contract. And make fewer All Star games.
Anybody who needs to be punished with bench time probably isn't going to be very good in the future.

Joe better already have a whole lot of changes in the works. I don't think the team is moving away from Chauncey this season but we need something big to change how this team can play.

Coach Billups said he "wants Shaedon to be more agressive" after tonight's ~30 point beatdown in NYC. I did the math, and according to Coach and Danny Marang, at some point in 28 minutes of gameplay with Simons & Grant combining for 30 shots, Shaedon wasn't aggresive enough, which is why the Blazers looked so bad.

Nobody can script a worse excuse then to blame Sharpe for tonight's ass whoopin' by the Knicks.

I didn't hear the interview, so if Billups is blaming the loss on Sharpe, that's silly.

I do think it's fairly safe to say if Sharpe was more aggressive, the total FGA's by Ant/Grant would go down. Marang blocked me so I don't know what he's saying, and I hate to agree with him, but Sharpe does seem noticeably passive in situations set up for him to be aggressive.

That's all Chauncey said. He didn't put the loss on Shaedon. He said that he needed to get Shaedon to be more aggressive and take more shots because Shae is so effective at scoring. I thought he was likely just reiterating things he's said to Shae to encourage him not blame him.

We have probably the worst owner and leadership in the nba. If he doesn’t get fired this off-season all hope is lost.

I waited to do this poll until watching last night's game vs NYC. Just horrible coaching with uninspired play from the team. I'm on the its time to fire Chauncey team!

Thanks, that makes more sense. As you mentioned, Billups has being saying similar things throughout the season. I too would like to see Sharpe be more aggressive when he's put in advantageous positions.

I don't want the bad ownership making the next coaching hire. This was my concern when folks wanted the last coach fired. I was met with some saying "It can't be any worse!" though.

If you thought McMillan, Stotts, and now Billups were all bad coaches, I'm going to guess you'll think the next coach is bad too.

I think Stotts was average. Maybe even slightly above average, because he did well with a team everyone expected to suck. But I don't think the Blazers have really had a good coach since Rick Adelman. Which is pathetic.

Could be true.

Only two coaches in the last 40 years have had a championship level roster. Adelman and Dunleavy.

I think Dunleavy as ok, but just along for the ride with a really talented roster. But Adelman went to Sacremento and would have coached them to a title if it weren't for the refs.

Adelman is my #1 as well... Comparing the next tier is tricky obviously because the roster construction each coach has had is very different.

It some people think it's realistic for Portland to go out and get a top 5 coach, and while it's certainly possible, I think given ownership, where this franchise is from a historic perspective and geographically, that this is a bottom 10 coach job and coaches who have the resume or are the hot assistant are likely to pause before coming to Portland. If you're coveted, you probably don't want to take a small market job, with unstable/unproven ownership, who doesn't go over the tax, working for an inexperienced GM, that has no current/future superstar on the roster. Taking the wrong job at the wrong time might make it your last job, even if you're an above average coach.

I want us to get our Spoelstra. A guy/gal whom nobody has heard of who then becomes a legendary franchise coach who can stay as long as they want. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

Maybe it should've been Ime Idoka. Maybe it should be Becky Hammon. Adelman's got the nostalgia-name factor (does Dr. Jack have any coaching offspring) but can he coach?

I'm also on the fire Chauncey train. I don't see development

The team, ideally, will be playing better than the start of the year. Is it? Not talking about win/losses. Quality of play, growth, fight, heart, etc. Just not seeing it.

This road trip was a shit show. One decent game and the rest were simply embarrassing. Are the players buying into Chauncey ball?

Ayton has not blossomed at all. Zero growth. Shae shows signs but it isn't consistent. Scoot is probably improving but plotting that progress results in slope close to zero. Why the fuck is Ant bringing the ball up? Why is Scoot playing at times like a SG? Makes no sense to me anyways.

I honestly think POR is the worst team in the league in spite of 10 wins.

Even if they started Ayton, Grant, Sharpe, Ant and Malcolm
and brought Scoot, Thybulle, Camara, Reath, and Walker off the bench?

That team does not make the playoffs but I doubt very much they are the worst team in the league.
