Lauri is an interesting idea. But I tend to think Ainge will demand too much in a trade.
Even if the cost was fair value I wouldn't do it unless we could also add a Sabonis type of vet to be a legit contender. Without being a contender it's not worth the cost to lose multiple draft picks and pay Lauri ~$60 million per year.
I read it this morning on a headline...maybe SI article...not sure.Where’d you hear this?

Following the links, it's quite clearly not a rumor--just a random proposal (1 of 10) from some post from a week ago.
IIRC they can trade one of their 2029 firsts, 2030 or 2031 first, and the Milwaukee swap. Can the Blazers even trade future first round picks?

except that Joe said he had a couple deals lined up for the off season that he couldn't get done at the deadline...I don't know who the writer is but I'm sure he has lots of basketball predictions if he's got an editorial space. If I read any rumors tied to the Blazers off season, I'll consider them but you're welcome to weigh it against an S2 trade machine prediction. This deal sounds like something that would explain Grants snarky exit interview and our not worrying about the 10 or 9th pick or tanking for it. It's a rumor, folks can discuss it or dismiss it, choices.Following the links, it's quite clearly not a rumor--just a random proposal (1 of 10) from some post from a week ago.

Same guy proposes the Hornets dealing Lamelo to the Magic, has two different deals involving Nic Claxton (one sending him to Phoenix, another sending him to Sacramento), and two others involving Tobias Harris (sending him either to Brooklyn or New Orleans). It's no more credible than any trade-machine proposal in this forum.
Perhaps you and I have different definitions of the word "rumor". To me, it means that someone has actually heard something from some credible source close to an organization indicating that the deal is actually being discussed by the teams referenced. These hypothetical proposals that come solely from the mind of the proposer (as is indicated in the article's prologue) don't meet that standard, in my opinion.except that Joe said he had a couple deals lined up for the off season that he couldn't get done at the deadline...I don't know who the writer is but I'm sure he has lots of basketball predictions if he's got an editorial space. Joe mentioning he is revisiting tradeline deals in the off season is a credible enough source close to the org that I pay attention. This lines up with what he said back then. As far as the writer...I never called him a credible source but his content seemed pretty in line with what I think they'll do given our circumstances. That's all I've got but if you have a better idea of what Joe had lined up, let me know what you think it is. Revisiting a deal is hardly saying that it's a done deal. It lines up with other's ideas that we're trading the pick this draft.Perhaps you and I have different definitions of the word "rumor". I noticed the heat moved Bam to pf and are now starting the 4/5 they drafted.Sabonis isn't a PF. I heard a lot of "Ayton can play PF" last summer...and he never did. He just doesn't have the mobility. Neither does Sabonis in my view
I know the chatter is Sabonis played PF in Indiana, but I remember those teams and it was Myles Turner who almost always defended opposing PF's while Sabonis guarded the C's
The reporter is an Ultimate Frisbee Coach and an wanna-be disc golfer. There are no better credentials than that.

What'd I tell ya? I'm a retired teacher and musician....that's some serious hoops cred! Lot of people from all walks of life seem to write about sports. Rumors are fun to discuss. Not sure about these days but when I joined S2 this place was full of accountants arguing about the value of +/- stats..The reporter is an Ultimate Frisbee Coach and an wanna-be disc golfer. Love it. Won't happen.First rumor of the offseason....apparently we're trading Grant, Timelord and 2 first round picks for Lauri Markkanen with the Jazz
This looks like one of my homeys (Spokane) but we have a lot of liars and criminals up here. I believe he is lying when he says "analysts predict" unless he is talking about a couple of his buddies down at the tavern.
agreed.Markkanen doesn't make any sense.
Exactly. IF someone is stating there is a trade rumor going around - then they should provide the source. This source is absolutely garbage.Following the links, it's quite clearly not a rumor--just a random proposal (1 of 10) from some post from a week ago.

I'll state any rumor I read about with zero concern over whether it's a source you bash or one you are curious about. Choices...show me your take on the deal Joe said he'd revisit in the offseason and tell me if it leads to a conversation about the roster or just a complaint about the rumor...to me the discussion is worth the speculation. You tell me how you know this guy is (fill in the insult). Because he plays Frisbee golf? It's a rumor, not breaking news...a simple, "I don't like that deal" would suffice. Markannen makes us a better offensive team than Grant but you see them as the same? I'd do this deal in a heartbeat but try and just include one pick, not two. Joe has worked with Ainge in the pastExactly. IF someone is stating there is a trade rumor going around - then they should provide the source. This source is absolutely garbage.
Paying 2 firsts for Markenen is absolutely asinine IMO. He's essentially a slightly younger Grant on a worse contract.
The writer does not have 'Editorial space'. The website you are perusing is a platform to allow some fans to 'pretend'. Exactly correct. It amazes me how conditioned people are to trust 'authority' (or someone who appears to have it).Perhaps you and I have different definitions of the word "rumor". I think our main positional need is a small ball 5 to offset what Clingan isn't. I actually like Rasheer Fleming for that and he happens to be a knockdown shooter. I think we could acquire a pick that makes sense for him from the Magic for Ant if we're not taking back anything else that the Magic really value. We could trade back pick him and a high upside guy.two of are main needs (we have many), are knockdown shooters, and a secondary playmaker/ballhandler who has some scoring pop. ideally these are two different people.
It's not authority, it's speculation...learn the difference ..I get it...you don't like the trade, the article or the dude who wrote it and probably me for breaching the topic...that's your problem..not mine. You don't know me or my "conditioning" so I don't get that slant but hey...you do youThe writer does not have 'Editorial space'. It is supposed to be fun but there is also a difference between a rumor and a trade idea but it's cool we now all know when you say rumor you're most likely talking about an idea.Trade rumor season is upon us. It's supposed to be fun.
