If the Cavs called tomorrow...

don't fear the PF position that has always been a blessing for the Blazers.

Has anybody considered that Cleveland calling us about the first round pick is probably a far stretch even as a dream?

So, in some instances, the Blazers are taking 3 role players from one of the worst teams in the NBA (but not their best player), and a crapshoot #1 pick, for LMA, and then are hoping to sign a star player to a max deal using cap space?

Which star free agent is going to want to come to Portland to play with a 3rd year PG (albeit a very good one), a rookie, and a bunch of role players?

Do you think this team, as its currently built, could win a championship? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious.

I saw some things from Nic during the playoffs that I was really pleased with. I actually think his ability to play point and defend point guards makes him a great backcourt mate for Dame. Let Dame play the scoring guard role and use Nic as the point forward. It's very Bulls circa 1990's.

To be honest with you I thought Nic would have done a better job on Parker.

Questioning if we watched just causes friction, so let's stay away from that shit.

Wiggins is projected by most scouts to play SG

i would like to see a respectable scouting report saying he is going to play SG in the league. hes not even a good shooter yet.

I think the starting line-up can compete with anyone. Do I think giving away an All-Star PF in his prime for a 19 year-old kid doesn't put the Blazers any closer to winning a championship. You want to tear up the team every summer, anyhow, so I already know where you are coming from. It's some of the newer posters' positions that I'm wondering about.

Trade LA and Wes for #1, Bennett, Jack and Varejao.

Draft Wiggins

S&T for Monroe (McCollum, Freeland and Wright).

Dame / Jack
Wiggins / Barton
Batum / Bennett
Monroe / Robinson
Lopez / Varejao

i think you're gonna have to give up better pieces than that to get monroe

Verajo is perpetually injured, I'm surprised so many of you guys want him and his contract over cap space or hawes...

I know what my starting asking price if I was Cleveland.

LA, McCollum and 2 number twos.

No there isn't any trade Cleveland could put together for LaMarcus right now. If we are at the trade deadline and the team is way under .500 sure these are the type of deals you'd consider. But right now you don't. Didn't we learn from 2007 the dangers of the #1 pick? The last thing I want is to trade away a hall of fame player that has a chance of being the best Blazers of all time for a possible bust. Way to devastating downside possibilities with a move like that right now.

What happens when LMA doesn't re-sign with the Cavs? What happens if whoever gets drafted #1 busts? Sets the franchise back years, IMO.

Are the Cavs under the cap by enough to absorb Aldridge's salary?
If they do I make this trade for Wiggins, then sign a PF in free agency (we'd be under the cap, right) or in a trade using the cap-room/trade exception.

That's perfect. Trade Aldridge for Wiggins, Sign Deng, re-sign Mo and we're good to go.

Which PF are you looking to sign who can play 36 mpg and average 20/10 while demanding double teams. I shudder to think of how bad the offense would be without LMA or another elite scorer, because all of the attention would go to Lillard, and Batum/Wes/Lopez can't create offense for themselves. Or, is it assumed that Wiggins steps in and suddenly plays at an All-NBA level?

The playoffs this year were bad enough to watch whenever LMA was off the court. Now people want to see an entire season of it, just to draft a player who no experts think is going to be elite anytime soon.

Deng's career averages.

16/6/2
Shooting 2/3/ft 46/33/77

Batum's career averages

11/5/3 45/37/83

Nic's 3 years younger and has missed 9 games the last two seasons combined.

Deng has played over 70 games twice in the last 7 seasons. Great idea. Bring in an older player who can't stay healthy, and give him a 4 year contract that eats up cap space.

Deng is a better rebounder and defender than Aldridge, doesn't demand double-teams but I'm tired of these ISO plays for Aldridge anyway, Deng at least plays within the offense.

Why discuss something that has no chance of happening?

Neil Olshey has clearly said the Blazers are in "win now" mode. "Asset acquisition" mode is over.

The Blazers aren't trading Aldridge for the #1 pick

Cap space or we're not making the trade. Unless they want to send us Waiters or Andy Varejao.
