If the Cavs called tomorrow...

Michael jordan has something wiggins doesn't; killer instinct.

Michael Jordan also won a national title in college, and won both the Naismith and Wooden college awards over Hakeem. He was a much more proven commodity, simply because he played 3 years at UNC and showed a much more rounded game than Wiggins did in his one year at Kansas.

Comparing Wiggins to Jordan. Isn't it a little early for those comparisons?

Jordan to Wiggins freshman to freshaman

Stat Jordan / Wiggins
MPG 31.7 / 32.8
PPG 13.5 / 17.1
RPG 4.4 / 5.9
APG 1.8 / 1.5
BPG 0.2 / 1.0
SPG 1.2 / 1.2

Wiggins is better. :)

Wiggins put up way better numbers in college than LeBron ever did.

I tend to think that a team of Lillard/Wiggins/Batum/Monroe/Lopez wins more games over the next 3 years than does a team of Lillard/Matthews/Batum/Aldridge/Lopez. The team is one of the best in the NBA at rebounding and open court speed. Low post play by Monroe creates open 3pt looks for DL/AW/NB. NBA has become a league about guards.

That's where I am as well.

True, the league is about guards, so I don't think Lillard, Wiggins and Batum with two bigs would be that special in a half court game. Not good enough handles for me. Plus Wiggins has not proven to be a great 3 pt shooter.....yet.

Jordan hits jump shot to win title.

Wiggins played in the tournament, I think.

So we are all on board with this idea of trading Aldridge and CJ for the #1 , Thompson, Waiters and Anderson Varejao?

All? No. But many are. However, I doubt Cleveland would offer such a package.

If the Cavs really want to WOW Lebron James and get him back maybe they would offer such a deal.

It certainly would be tempting for LeBron, I imagine, to have Kyrie and Aldridge in his new big three. It's certainly possible. Then again, LeBron might just be more intrigued by the idea of playing with/mentoring Wiggins...

I sure as hell am NOT on board. Trading Aldridge is a terrible idea now, it was a terrible idea before this season, and it'll probably still be a terrible idea after next season.

You can't really trade him after next season, unless it's a sign and trade.

no. only way I trade Aldridge to the cavs is if Irving is involved in the deal. Do not want Waiters. or Varejao

You really think LA can get back two number one draft picks? I will say this, If Olshey thinks Wiggins has LeBron James kind of talent, I don't think there is any question on what he should do.

I like it! it's a crazy idea but I like it.
We'd be so deep it's funny. Both Lopez and Varejao, Thompson, Freeland, T-Rob. We'd have Wesley, Waiters, Barton just at SG! Not to mention Wiggins...

Though fun, I hope we all realize how silly this discussion is. This is basically considered by most to be the best draft since 2003. If Cleveland is interested in trading their pick, there will be an absolute bidding war for it. There's no way they would end up offering us so much in addition to the pick for Aldridge, when they'll most likely get several other offers that won't involve gutting their roster in the hopes of luring LeBron.

Quite correct MM. However, you left out that the prevailing wisdom at the time was that you needed a big man to win a championship. Conventional Wisdom + Lost Coin Flip = Sam Bowie.

As for LeBron, I wouldn't go back to Cleveland if Waiters was there. You don't win in the playoffs by depending on terrible decision makers.

This is not true. No one would have selected him over Olajuwon, but there were heated discussions within the Blazers organization to take him over Bowie. Several people have spoke about it over the years

Jordan was the player of the year when he came out of school as well. He averaged 20 ppg on a team loaded with talent while shooting 55% from the floor.

yes, a degree of reality would be a good idea

We could start threads about buying a late 2nd rounder?

I didn't say I have any problem with the thread. This is the off-season; perfect time for fantasy trade scenarios.

Like I said, it's fun, just not realistic. Nothing wrong with that, as long as we don't get overly worked up about it.

Lol at anyone who thinks Cleveland wouldn't offer the pick for Aldridge.

The pick--sure. The pick plus three starters--ehhhh...not so much.

yes, that's Homer in Fantasyland territory
