I'm beginning to think we're going to absorb some players

So if we ended up getting Hibbert and Gay, while keeping Noah, dame, Leonard, CJ, Aldridge and Matthews. Would that be considered a trade that moves the needle?
We wouldn't have enough cap space to resign Wes, even if we traded Henderson and let Kaman go.

I disagree. Kaman (5 mil) and 10 mil cap to get Hibbert. Sign Aldridge and Matthews for whatever. In August, trade Anderson and a couple players to get Gay.

What about jj redick?

Clips have Crawford, Stephenson and are rumored to be getting pierce.

Id love to get redick Next to dame

Hibbert $15.5M, Gay $12.4M, CJ/Dame/Meyers/Crabbe $10.6M Plumlee $1.4M Vonleh $2.4M = $42.3M
$20M to resign LMA leaves you at $62.5M with $1.5M in cap holds so only $3M in cap space. You'd have to renounce Wesleys bird rights

Bro, we would be over cap getting Gay. The cap space is needed only to get Hibbert (10 mil) + (5mil) for July 1st Kaman.

Then we have bird for Aldridge and Wesley, so it really doesn't matter what we sign them for. Then we use players acquired to trade for Gay.

how would we match Gay's salary, who would we trade?

Who knows, but it definitely can be done. Henderson makes 6 something. I'm sure you can find a player to get to 11 for the 110% of the salary
you can't combine Henderson with another contract until August 26th

19.7 PER, .556 TS%, .122 ws/48 on a 29 win team

Funny how the 29 win team is desperate to unload him, isn't it? Or maybe it's because every team that trades him instantly improves.

Didnt see anything that said that. Oh well. If they're trying to trade him they'll get rid of him before then.

Okay well I did say August. Sorry you didn't catch that. Whatever the case, it's possible and would it be a off season that moves the needle?

we've already had the discussion of no to Hibbert. I like Gay and think hes better than most people think

So does Hibbert + Gay, with Dame, Matthews and Aldridge move the needle? I'm asking "THAT" question. Yes or no?

Depends on Hibbert and what version of him we get. Id rather trade for Gay now using cap space and sign Brandon Wright.

Even bad Hibbert protects the paint better than Jordan, Noah, Gasol or Wright. I'm definitely not a fan of Wright.

Why not? He's athletic, a good rim protecter, and finishes around the basket, and he'll come about $10M cheaper.

too small to defend Jordan, cousins, bogut, peckovic, gasoul howard here in the west

Well you'd start Plumlee and bring Wright off the bench

the idea would be to sign Wright so you could use money elsewhere to get other pieces to entice LA to stay.
I would suspect this would have to be sold to Aldridge first before you make a move like that. I don't expect him to wait for us to find that third star. I think we need to get him almost as quickly as players are available.

the thing is, a slight upgrade in the starting lineup with a slight upgrade of the bench with the addition of a better blend of contrasting styles over last year turns us into a contender. I think LA is smart enough to realize that. Plumlee would be a slight upgrade over Rolo and Wright would be a slight upgrade over Rolo. And that leaves us with $21M in cap space after resigning LA. Hello DeMarre Carroll, and we could still bring Wes back and sign Watson to the cap exception
Something like this:
Lillard / Watson
Matthews / McCollum
Carroll / Henderson
Aldridge / Leonard
Plumlee / Wright

That's a contender. Upgrading starting SF and C, as well as backup PG, SF, and C, just because we decided to go with Wright instead of gambling on Hibbert.

If we were going after wright, I'd much rather want koufos for a similar price
