Imagine you are George Zimmerman

Self defense is what you argue in court as a defense. They arrest him and arraign him and a judge can set him free or hold him for trial.

The police do get some leeway. A cop can pull you over and decide to not give you a ticket. Or let it slide that he saw you jaywalking.

Those are really minor infractions though.

Zimmerman was a direct witness to the event in question. Sure, you can take into account the girlfriend's phone conversation I suppose but its far from enough evidence to charge Zimmerman with murder.

Martin's girlfriend did not observe, her account is one of hearsay.

It seems there is enough evidence to at least make an arrest. When you have a community watch captain carrying a gun when he's not suppose to and following a "suspicious" person when he's told not to it calls into question his actions that night.

There's also the questionable police conduct in the investigation of the fatal shooting, including the "correction" of at least one eyewitness' account and their reluctance to releasing the 911 tapes.

No.

It means keep investigating. Don't cut it short. Don't do a quick and crappy job.

We already know they didn't canvass the neighborhood. They didn't get back to all the witnesses who tried to offer information. They didn't look at Trayvan's cell phone. They didn't re-interview Zimmerman. They didn't drug test Zimmerman. He wasn't interviewed by Homicide at first.

So many problems.

uhh, they did keep on investigating. Like I stated, the police did not close the case.

Why would they drug test Zimmerman, you can't do that without probable cause or a warrant.

Arrest him based on what? If they felt they don't have enough to convict him, they can't just arrest and arraign. Again, you are advocating basically infinite detention here.

What is the evidence? That's basically what we're looking for here that no one has provided.

If he isn't supposed to be carrying a firearm, where is the weapons charge?

What law did he break by following a suspicious person?

And it appears Zimmerman met with police more than once.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com..._1_miami-schools-punch-unarmed-black-teenager

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law-enforcement authorities told the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say. There have been no reports that a witness saw the initial punch Zimmerman told police about.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened Feb. 26. But that night, and in later meetings, he described and re-enacted for police what he says took place.

In his version of events, Zimmerman had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words and then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

Notice the date ... shameless.

I wonder what side Romney, or Santorum take on this issue. This can be a key issue for those guys....You know those guys think the black guys obviously guilty and deserved to be shot.

Santorum said Zimmerman has a 'sick mind', should be arrested, and that it's an outrage. What a fucking idiot.

Romney said the judicial system should run its course and that he didn't have enough information to make any judgement. That's too reasonable to be President in this day and age.

Hmmm, Ron Paul probably thought it should be like the cowboy and indian days. Every man for himself.

and i wonder why the perception of him is that he never takes a stand on anything?

It would be much better if he inserted himself into a racial issue without knowing all of the facts, and then selling hoodies the next day. That's presidential...

Essentially.

We'll see how the jury feels.

There have to be charges before there is a jury, and Trayvon's mom already lied about her son sitting on the porch when he first saw Zimmerman.

The truth doesn't matter, though.

I just ordered a "Ron Paul is my Homie" Hoodie

Inserted himself into? Again, I'll ask, how is what he said divisive?

His imaginary son, and the black marches surrounding it. It's blatant pandering, but unfortunately for him, their initial perception of the perp doesn't fit the meme. Turns out Zimmerman has helped raise a black son with a single black mother, and even raises funds for the black church in their area.

I don't expect you 20%ers to get it, though, just as I don't expect the 20% of the far right to admonish their own obvious political ploys by their own leaders.

Where was Obama saying anything about the perp, and saying anything about the perception, and whether it mattered if he was helping to raise a black son?

20%ers?

When I hear that last name Zimmerman I think Jew, not redneck.

Again, the only FACTS are that he was following Treyvon, that he called 911, that they told him not to keep following, that he did not follow their advice and that Treyvon was shot. We don't KNOW that he was headed back to his car and we do not KNOW that Treyvon attacked him.

another fact is that George has two prior arrests... one for assaulting a cop and another for domestic abuse.

He is also the victim of domestic abuse

That's the same answer he gave about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He's the least informed person to ever run for office.
