Smart at the 3?

FTFY

Also, why does everyone want Smart? He is a plus defender but he doesn't stretch the floor. I doubt he'd shoot 33% next season.

Idk how in the hell we get him but I like smart cause he would give us some toughness and defense on the perimeter that we sorely lack. (looks to me like Davis gets traded in this scenario) Phys Ed is a great guy but also probably the marcus smart equivalent at the PF/C position.

You could put Smart at the 3 for a short stretch each game. Done backup 3s in our division: Sefelosha, Roberson, Ingles, Johnson, Muhammad, Barton... Smart would be fine against all of them.

Use context. CP3 and Griffin got injured bruh. And the Center position was not the reason we won.

And Nurkic:

Plums

Also there's a difference with plaing the Clippers and Golden State

What a fucking dumbass. The guy had nothing to do with the trade and I'm sure he was bummed about it

Boston doesn't have the smartest crackers, this was already established before that video.

Boston wanted to get rid of IT. A report earlier this offseason quoted him as being clear that he wants to get PAID next summer (like $200 mil worth).

That being said, my feeling as an outsider is that Boston acted like the team that needed to make the trade when in reality, Cleveland was the team in need.

It's not that he wants to, it's that he's GOING to. Kyrie is under contract for 3 more seasons at far less than 30MM per.

  • 2017/18 $18,868,626
  • 2018/19 $20,099,189
  • 2019/20 $21,329,752
They save at least 59.8MM with this deal.

Both teams needed a trade and at this point, I'd rather have Kyrie over Fultz (who they could've had if they traded IT earlier).

Celts have a wealth of draft picks so the one they traded for Kyrie is worse than the #1 they would've used on Fultz and on top of that they got Tatum.

On it's face it only looks like an over-payment IMHO.

The third year is a player option, and therefore basically doesn't exist.

On the other side, it should be noted that Kyrie waived his trade kicker in order to allow this trade to happen, so that might give an indication that he's happy to go to Boston (or possibly just that he was desperate to leave Cleveland).

I think he's happy to be in Boston. Boston was one of the few places where he could be on a good team and not have a superstar that would overshadow him.

Now, if Brown or Tatum becomes a superstar, Irving might not be too happy.

So they save even more. They save 81.1MM if he opts out (of course he will) and they don't re-sign Irving. His new deal will cut into that number.

HAHAHA that would be funny as hell, no joke. Boston would be getting their ass saved.

Would be pretty awkward for the teams if this somehow fell through

WOW!

That would be amazing if Cavs say no to the trade for medical reasons.

I can see the Celts rolling with a gimpy IT but what the hell would the Cavs do?

They would trade Irving somewhere else or Celtics would have to throw in another asset to compensate (Marcus Smart?).

Haven't put in my few cents yet. When looking at this trade, and what each team received, Cleveland is the clear winner. Kyrie is the better player when comparing him and IT. But Kyrie isn't crowder and an a alleged top 3 pick better. No way! But when you look at the trade and how it affects both teams right now and tje trajectory of both teams going forward it is fairly even in my opinion. Boston is looking to man up and make a run at a title right now. With kyries age and how he fits into a team that is built to make a run right now and into the the next 3-5 years, this deal makes complete sense for them and they had to do it. Cleveland on the other hand is planning on losing lebron next season, which I garuntee you they will. They do not need to re sign IT next year, which I think for a team that is going into full re build mode next year is a very smart idea. I love IT, but he is a novelty guard in my opinion. Extremely undersized, which is why he is rated as one of the worst defenders in the league. He has terrible hip problems and is not a player to build around. They can rent him for this year while lebron Is still here and still keep the cavs in contention, but when lebron dips next season I would let him go as well. With that said and looking forward to their inevitable rebuild, they got a great young wing and an amazing contract in crowder, a great young center prospect in zizic and a potential tip three pic, in a top heavy draft next season. So I think, even though this trade clearly is in the cavs favor, it's pretty even when you look what both teams are looking to do in the near future. If that makes any sense. Haha. A handful of cocktails deep right now, somdomt judge the grammar.

Once again I prefer Kyrie not come west. So I hope it goes through.

I bet the Milwaukee Bucks are watching this closely.

This is gonna get very interesting lol

That's a really tough position for Celtics to be in and I think Cavs knew well it would turn out like this (everyone knew about IT's issues). They basically have to finalize this trade somehow or else they are left with three players who will no longer be there as they will know Celtics board was actively trying to trade them. At the same time it'll reflect badly on Ainge if he offers Cavs another asset.
