Cavs: The price just went up 10%

Also, while eveyone is certain Thomas will get $30M a year next season because he said he will be seeking a max deal, I am not convinced that's going to happen. Very few teams will be able to offer him $30M next year because they are clogged with bad deals from last Summer and most of those who will be able to offer that will prefer to go for someone younger anyway. I think he will have to accept less. Bulls are probably the only team that might pay him that.

Perhaps an opportunity to get involved?

Portland sends Meyers to Boston and our 2018 (top five protected pick) - Leonard to Celts, Smart + Blazer pick to Cavs and Love to Portland

(How do I make a green font?)
:smack:

Denver would. They need a PG.

Possibly Indiana, Orlando, LA Clippers, Detroit, and New York.

Denver definitely would. Milsapp is even older and on the decline and they were ok with paying him 30m. Plus, that team might be pretty scary with a real point guard.

Boston can pay through the nose because they can..

His game is built 100% on speed - I wouldn't touch I.T.! This hip injury will linger.

I'd rework the deal to land Marcus Smart - in place of Crowder(?)

Cleveland played Boston, lets be honest. Cleveland knows exactly what they are doing and now it would be too weird to void the trade for players involved, therefor Cleveland has the ultimate leverage and they knew the whole time.

Big ups to Cleveland!

Cavs knew about his hip injury. They are just trying to milk the cow on this one to try and get Brown or Tatum to get ready in case Lebron walks away next year.

Celtics will not give them Brown or Tatum, no chance. They've already offered enough. The whole package even without IT is probably better than what Cavs are going to get from any other franchise. Crowder, Zizic and a potentially top 5 pick in 2018 is hell of an offer.

Yup. I hope they don't give them shit.

The Cleveland Cavaliers did not request for more players in the Kyrie Irving and Isaiah Thomas trade as of Sunday afternoon, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

The report comes after ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned on SportsCenter that Cleveland was thinking of asking for Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum but said it was "unlikely."

...

“Boston is resisting, and will initially at least, resist this idea. Boston believes that it was completely transparent with Cleveland about where Thomas was physically, his rehab," Wojnarowski added. "Cleveland’s version of this is that they didn’t realize how long Thomas could potentially be out this season, he’s in the final year of his contract, and obviously, that matches up with what will likely be the final year of LeBron’s current deal, and so there’s going to be a showdown between these two teams that may last a couple more days.”

Actually I think it's pretty scummy if Cleveland knew IT was injured and only did this to try to leverage Boston into giving more later.

That's the kind of thing that makes other GM's not want to deal with you.

I thought there was a timeline by when the trade had to be voided or officially completed. I'm surprised it has drug out this long.

Why the Trail Blazers Shouldn’t Even Consider Damian Lillard for Kyrie Irving
A reader wonders if such a deal could be viable if the Celtics-Cavaliers trade falls through.

Jaime Lannister reasons out a Lillard-Irving trade:

On the one hand, Portland would lose their most popular player and team leader for a player of substantially similar ability who chose to leave a title winner and contender because one of his teammates was better than him.

...

Fin.
