I drive around the foothills and see lots of Trump signs.....it's always been like that in Lane County....the towns are deep blue but the rural areas are pretty red...I think that's true all over the state

I think that holds true through a lot of the country as well.

I just hosted relatives from Wilmington, NC this last week--drove to Oceanside (Oregon) for a night, then to Sisters (down Hwy 22! Holy effing eff! So much fire damage!) and Bend for a few, and then back to Portland--and now I'm nervous as fuck about the election!!!

It could've been the HUNDREDS of TRUMP signs everywhere on my journey, or the flappy 4x4 flags driving around like Mad Max, or just deja vu from the last time we were here, or the guest Southerners, or my parents (also Southerners), but I'm suddenly feeling a lot less optimistic. Perhaps I'm reaching my limit on the number of "unprecedented" things I can handle in a year, I don't know...

Am I alone in this? Everything just feels so uncertain and so foreboding at this point...

(Also, @SlyPokerDog is right! This is a JINX THREAD!!!)

No, you're not alone...I think we might wanna accept that there's still a chance that Trump gets re-elected.

...IMO, there are likely a lot of "shy" or "closet" Trump fans lurking in the shadows who will wait till Tuesday to vote...I see an early Biden lead that could be erased later in the evening. Hope I'm wrong but I'm trying make myself believe that it's possible just in case it does in fact happen. On the other hand, if Biden wins I can laugh at Trump fans and fuck with them incessantly.

Just so you know, in Tallahassee FL, I am seeing about 80% of signs for Biden.
In Portland proper, where I live, I don't see any Trump signs at all. Like ZERO.

But this place is an actual bubble when it comes to that stuff. I can't get a good read here. It's like the Portland Effect. From here it looks like a landslide...much like 2016...

Didn't know you were in Tallahassee...I spent a lot of time on Tennessee Street in my younger days...and spent a lot of money at Barnacle Bills.

I remember last election well. Was working at Cheese Bar up on Belmont. Once the news came in, we locked the front doors and opened up a bunch of booze and just tried to drink the oblivion away (it didn't work). But yeah, from the feel of things in Portland, it seemed highly improbable.

Just moved here to live with my girlfriend a couple of months ago. Haven't been to a single bar or restaurant because of covid. I'm sure I'll get a chance to blow some money at some point. Haha. I'm living on Eisenhower St kind of in-between Orange Ave and Pensacola Street, about 2 miles from that dumb football stadium that FSU plays in.

Last election, the Oceanside, CA harbor was full of nothing but Trump signs on the yachts. This time around, maybe 50/50 with Biden signs. If this is no longer a safe harbor for Trump...

I guess the stadium is still called Doak Campbell?...aside from football games I also went to a few concerts there. (Jimmy Buffett, ZZ Top, et al.)

Yeah. That's it. Doak Campbell. Don't care too much, just figured that would give you a decent landmark to where I'm at.

You knew the Clackamas Mall shooter?

Yeah, I was dating a girl who was good friends with his mother. Used to crash at their place after shows back when SWIL was playing alot in 2003-2006. GF and I would sleep in his bed once in a while when he was at his fathers.

And before you ask, no we didn't soil his bed with ANYTHING.

Yeah, broke my heart to hear what happened. When he was young he was a good polite kid. And of course the victims and their families.
But then GF and I broke up and so all of us became distant. Then years later I saw the news.

I'll leave you with your opinion on Trump

I will say yeah there have been false accusations. But, most women are not lying and are in fact victims and they should be believed when they come out and say things happened. They should be given the benefit of the doubt. But, more often than not its the accused who is given the benefit of doubt, while the accuser is ostracized. Its the reason women who are victims of rape don't speak out. Because people will choose to believe their victimizer.

Also, not a good reference with Jeffery and Bill. Jeffery was prosecuted and ended up dyibg/being killed for his shit, and Bill was impeached for using his power to make his aide suck his dick. Not to mention all the other women he has had to pay off in court over sexual assault/rape allegations, etc.

But the Clinton thing is kinda my point. No one is screaming for him to be prosecuted... that I see anyhow.

I get it. He isn't president anymore, so its not a priority like the Pres. but the thing is, the hatred should be as much for him as it is for Trump or its a tell that there is obvious bias.

I'm not some evil person like the bulk of this forum wants to try to paint me as, simply because I don't buy into gossip, hearsay and biased news and I try to maintain an open mind up until ALL the facts are out.

I'm also human can make mistakes like everyone else and I can miss news or information, as this world moves fast and todays headline is often lost by tomorrows headline, so if you don't see things instantly, sometimes ignorance plays a part.

I just wish that more people understood they are so far away from these cases there is no way to know all the truth and details and so I find it concerning, so many people can come to such a conviction all the while not even being close to the facts or the truth and only relying on the media, which we all know is just out to manipulate the masses to their directives.

Maybe I missed some pertinent info that others have seen...but this place.... Instead of asking if one knows about this or that, is just sooo quick to say your racist, or your a Trump loyalist or your evil or your stupid, or whatever. I don't know how many times it was insinuated in the last couple of days about me that i'm a Trump loyalist, but I laugh at it. I didn't vote for him and it just shows that people come to conclusions and then don't listen to anything else that SHOULD alter their opinion if they had an open mind. But they don't. I can say I didn't vote for Trump a thousand times here but it will be ignored and the same people will come back with their condemnation of me simply because I struggle to keep my opinion based on facts and not rumors or unsubstantiated reports and I don't buy into their line of thinking.

Just got back from Palm Springs a couple of days ago. It was 80% Trump signs there.

Face facts, most of us here are non-entities, except @SlyPokerDog. What we post here might be read by at most a few dozen people. So why are posters called out as unforgivable for what we say, but occupant of the white house repeatedly boasts of sexually assaulting women, has been accused by around 24 women, and yet, well, no problem because he hasn't been found guilty in a court of law?
Are you still going to get mad at me when I use the C word

I am concerned but keep in mind for some reason Trumpers feel the need to display their Trumpiness. They love flags and getting people riled up. It’s part of their shtick, it’s a way to give the middle finger to people. The rest of us don’t have the need for the attention. Or we would drive huge trucks with huge tires and a ten foot Biden flag out the back. But maybe we don’t care that much or don’t have micro-penises I don’t know

You don't have to drive very far to find Trump signs.

He was prosecuted in ways. He was impeached and he was sued and paid his victims off. He was a good president, but he was a sick man. His deeds were one reason Hilary didn't get elected.

Trump is both a bad president and a bad man.

No one is trying to make you out as evil here

No, there is no way to know all the details. But, a president should act a certain way. He/She should be held to a higher standard. No other president has acted the way Trump has, and if they had they would be forced to step down.

Part of the problem is that the minority has gamed the system such that they now have the say over the majority. In other words, they took the actual intent of the Founding Fathers and twisted it into a pretzel in order to cement their power and retain it into the foreseeable future. That leaves a very pissed off majority.....and serves as an open invitation for the majority to right the ship in whatever way is within the rules. As Trumpers made exceedingly clear in 2016, elections have consequences. If the Democrats can legally pack the Supreme Court, why shouldn’t they? And if the minority wants to piss all over the rights of the majority, the the minority has no right to whine when it’s done to them. What goes around comes around....

I had to laugh when people were talking about "updating" the electoral college, since essentially the update would be making the electoral college representative and proportional. In other words, make it match the popular vote....lol

to you point which is a good one. And I'm fully on board the 'D's packing the court train' if they sweep the elections. It would be the D's using power in the same manner the the R's always do when they have it. IMO, the SC should have at least 19 justices, but that's an argument of degree

There is zero chance of Trump getting reelected. Why? Because I will not allow it!

This is kind of interesting...

You have to love a poll that is entitled...."Likely Voters"........you know mags makes these up several times a day, right? What Trump is going to face are "Unlikely Voters" and by and large composed of minorities, seniors and younger people who either were Republicans or have never voted before.

it's especially interesting if you don't do math

* around 130 million people voted in 2016. Estimates are around 150 million will vote in 2020

* the number of people who have already voted is approaching 100 million. Call it that for fun

* so Biden is at 66 million and trump at 32 million in the 'already voted' category

* so then trump gets 69% of the 50 million election day votes; about 34.5 million. That gives trump 66.5 million

* and Biden gets 27% of those 50 million votes, or 13.5 million. That gives Biden 79.5 million

so then, Biden wins by 13 million, which sounds about right if the national polling is close
