what's the first order of business?

I guess extensions for Timelord and/or Thybulle. My thinking is those have a remote chance of happening. Neither player may want to return and Thybulle sure didn't burnish his resume against the Spurs. Timelord did, but would Dundon even consider paying more than market?

I guess Scoot's extension could happen in July. But do they pay according to the 49 points he scored in games 1&2; or according to the 5 points he scored in games 4&5?

What would or wouldn't have to happen in the offseason for Dame to ask for his no trade clause to be rescinded?

Dame loves Portland, but he won't stand to be disrespected.

With the current makeup of the team, I wouldn't waste money on either Timelord or Thybulle. Thybulle is too much a niche player and Timelord, over his career has availability issues and can probably get a better payday elsewhere.

Scoot - I wouldn't mind if they didn't extend him and would be even more disillusioned with the team if they sign him to a contract of any significance. I've not see any reason for that that lasts for more than a couple of games. Utterly replaceable backup PG. I'd rather have Love at a much cheaper price. Not as good but its not that big of a drop off.

My glass-80% empty point-of-view.

Wow, totally disagree with you there. I think Scoot is worth extending, he'll continue to improve.

Roll

Guessing this includes at least the swaps too. Would you do it?

1,000% yes. Clingan was useless in the Spurs series. Sure, he is young. I think there will always be match up issues though.

Center is one of the least important positions in the league. You can get by with a role player there and I'd love to see Giannis play the 5 for bits for us against Wemby in a series.

Sharpe, meh. I think he can.continue to improve, but you have to give something up to get something.

Scoot, Dame, Jrue, Camara, Deni and Giannis is a strong start to something. Will need to round out the rotation a bit more.

Do we extend Scoot with a similar deal we gave to Sharpe?
I see no reason to, personally.

Let him play out the year next year and prove himself. If he's a restricted FA next year then I can live with it.

Wasn't a fan of the Sharpe extension for the same reason. He owed us a true breakout season and we didn't get one, and his contract value looks so-so.

Yay, an over-the-hill club. Still, can't be any worse than what we have now, youth but for the most part, not a lot to give hope/excitement.
I mean, we got Pippen at age 34.

Kawhi is still playing at a higher level than Pippen was at 34.

I'd have to think Kawhi will certainly be cheaper than Giannis too.

Scoot shot 40% on three-pointers from March 1 to the end of the season, and 46% on threes in the playoffs on 5.6 attempts per game.

It's not Scoot's fault the team could not put that ability more in the forefront of the game plan.

Instead, in the playoffs, the team gave nearly equal 3-point attempts per game to Donovan Clingan (5.0) and Toumani Camara (5.4) whose combined percentage was 45.9%. (Camara shot 25.9% and Clingan 20%.)

Do the Blazers not need good 3-point shooting? Seems like it should be a priority in the off-season.

I feel like Kawhi wouldn’t work out well here. Giannis, Bam, or Booker are the 3 I’d take the gamble on. I don’t think our players are as good as we think.

I know he has had a rough last couple of games, but he's playing a lot better today - Ja'Kobe Walter.
He can hit a 3, is active on D (4 steals today), he is only 6'4" but plays a lot bigger from the games ive seen. he is cheap too.

ideally, i want a coach that is going to have high standards around effort and teamwork and players that play hard with upside like this kid.
in saying that, im sure thats what every team wants so i doubt they'd be keen to move him
