Jrue Holiday trade ideas

There is just no way the Blazers did this deal without at least somewhat knowing what Holiday's value is around the league. There is a baseline that they were comfortable with and now it's going to be a separate job to see whether Joe can increase that baseline by soliciting other offers.
I hope you're right, but I think it's definitely possible that they simply wanted to avoid a Dame-related trainwreck in training camp.

Holiday won't fail to report in Portland and he's a respected veteran so if the Blazers have to keep him for a while, Scott coming off the bench behind him wouldn't be disruptive (and might even be instructive). They can afford to wait and see what's out there in a way that it would have been increasingly difficult to do with Lillard.

Yes, they can afford to wait on trading Holiday. I would put it 50/50 on Holiday ever playing a game for us but I'm more saying they're comfortable with the baseline value Holiday has around the league to take this over the Miami deal (Herro + 2 1sts). The other stuff for Ayton was looped in but that would have been there regardless.

I like this one too:

Holiday

FOR

Ball + Caruso + 24 Blaz 1st (returned) + 27 Bulls 1st
That one's actually plausible. Acquiring Ball wouldn't help our reputation as the place knees go to die, though.
Caruso can fetch some seconds.
Fuck that - Caruso's a GREAT defender and an all-round good glue guy.

50/50?

I think there's a less than 1% chance he even gets on a plane to Portland.

You think they're intent on trading him before the season? I think they can afford to wait and see if a team overpays. Let's say X team gets off to a really bad start.

His knees were already dead to begin with, so don't think it would hurt our rep.

Ya i dont see him coming to media day. Also like striking the iron when hot. Market seems ripe for Holiday right now. Let's not risk him getting injured.

Agreed, a lot of teams were showing interest in Dame and while I disagree with whoever the fuck posted that Dame and Jrue have comparable value, Jrue is a legit starting PG in this league, he piloted his team to the best record in the league last season and probably would have taken them to the conference finals if Giannis hadn't been injured.

So all of those teams that lost out on Dame can either adjust their offers to fit Jrue or if their offers were already shit they can just give us what they were trying to fleece us with.

Yep.

Imagine having a PG that can defend. We haven't really had that since Greg Anthony. I wouldn't mind keeping him a year. I suspect he'd opt into his player contract which pays $40 mil next year, and we can deal him then to a contender.

I suspect the plan is to trade him now though. His value may actually be a bit higher than Dame because he doesn't have the massive 60+ million dollar contract in 3-4 years.

If we're trading him to the Pelicans I would rather have either Trey Murphy or not-on-herb jones
