I still don't understand the big enthusiasm for Kuminga because the rest of the package would be borderline shit
A 21 yr old athletic wing with two way potential who was drafted #7 two yrs ago. Why is this so hard to understand?

because "2 way potential" is still just potential. Most players don't live up to their potential

and remember, I was factoring in that Portland would have to take back CP3 and wouldn't get an euncumbered draft pick till 2028

you’re spewing a lot of shit in here right now.
1. If a trade with GS does happen, he’ll most likely be moved to a 3rd team.
2. You’re upset with potential? Who do you want? Your expectations must be through the roof..you need to start looking at how bad of a situation we were in and how positive the outcome *seems* to be.

quit complaining..we were never getting Paulo Banchero or some outrageous player. This has been, without a doubt, better than expected.

I don't believe it will happen with Miami, but let's assume:

Miami sends Lowry + Jovic + 2028 first (unprotected) + 2030 1st (top-10 protected)

that would mean, essentially, that Portland traded Dame + Nurkic + Little

for

Ayton plus 3 picks & 2 swaps 5-7 years from now (and no, I don't count Jovic & Camara as assets any more than I counted Keon Johnson)

I'm kind of not impressed with those exchanges. Makes me think the Blazers really need to trade Jrue for a really solid young player and a pick
That's what I'm hoping for.

Because he refused to negotiate with Miami this summer. Which is fine if Miami pissed him off or if he just is not interested in their players. But if he turns around and admits that he actually does like those players, then it makes him look petty not wanting to send Dame where he wanted to go just out of spite. I don't think he will do that.
If he ends up getting more out of Dame inthe long run then it wasn't spite. It was a good move for the team.

And if we do send him to Miami it will certainly be for what Miami was offering for Dame or more.

I don't care about the rest. I want a GM who will get max talent in here.

Maybe we should stop being so hyped about Scoot and Shaedon too. They're all potential as well. This logic is bizarre.

and paul would be sent to a third team. a recent top 10 pick who isn't playing because his coach values veterans is the kinda guy I would love to land. And a GS pick in 2028 when their big 3 are gone is freaking amazing in my mind.

We get a load of picks. Basically we traded Dame for 5 first round picks, which is the kind of haul many were looking for from the beginning. Tobias would fit in well in our rotation as well, though he'd only be a one year rental.

I would say no for Portland. I don't think those picks will be higher than #20ish, so nothing too optimistic from those. Harris is good but definitely wouldn't fit our long term plan.
Philadelphia signs the proposal, trips on their way to turning it in, splits their head open and goes unconscious for a second before realizing what they were doing, amazingly shake off the cobwebs, step on Harden once they get to their feet (which turns out to be really easy because all that bitch knows how to do is flop) and with their last breath reaches for the fax machine and sends out their signed copy of the proposal before either of the other teams reconsider.
Clippers fans are excited for a trade until they hear the most overrated, non-marketable, whiny, heartless player's name in NBA history (Harden) and realize they are now relegated to watching Harden flop like a dying fish on every drive, then get home to watch Sportscenter highlights of Mann putting guys on posters...all while hoping for good news on Leonard and George's return from injury. Ballmer calls Michael Winger to beg him to come back and make one of those 'unbelievable trades like he pulled on Portland'.

The dream deal for me would be to the Pelicans for Trey Murphy. I already said it earlier in this thread but who cares
His name has been mentioned.

He's a 6'9" small forward that had a True Shooting percentage of 65% last season (40.6% on threes) so everyone should care.

Edit: He should be at the top of the list. He's not just "potential."

I just don’t understand through this entire process why Philly, Miami, Golden State and the Clippers aren’t more desperate. They have windows that are right now. They don’t have time to fuck around.
Posturing. They can't look desperate if they want to get a good deal.

Knock yourself out, Pat. Butler is too old to be the best player on a title winning team. Never happen. Anyone saying otherwise care to bet? I heard very few 34+ guys have been the "best" player on title winning teams: LBJ, Kareem, and Wilt I think. Those are 3 of the GOATs. Butler isn't even top 75. Never plays more than 65 games a year. The heat are fucked and I am delighted. Heat fans are fools if they think otherwise.
MJ was 35

I think this is a no-brainer for the Pelicans.

For the Blazers, depends on the picks I guess. Maybe we'd just be happy with 23-year-old Trey Murphy.

I'd rather go after someone like Trey Murphy than figure out who needs Jrue the most (like Miami).
The Pelicans either need to make the playoffs or blow it up. I think they'll lean towards making the playoffs.
I'm good with that. I just want the best return.

where the fuck was the complaint?

what I wondered about was the big enthusiasm some people have for Kuminga. Maybe he'll be great; maybe he won't. I've said before I haven't watched that much of him.

The Pels likely see Murphy as their 3rd best player going forward (assuming that Zion is not injured). I will be very surprised to see them ship him out when they are not ready to contend. If they knew Zion is healthy, sure, but until this is proven... doubt it.

Holiday's expiring contract be enticingly valuable to winning teams looking to do some playoff damage and chop off taxes in 2024/25 and beyond.

While it sounds cool to trade Jrue for a few picks to a tanker squad, find a team in tax trouble willing to give up even more young talent and future picks to alleviate this new 2nd apron WTF CBA.

It's not expiring he has a player option for 39.4M. That means at 33 he will either exercise that option or sign an extension during the season with the team he'd be playing for that guarantees him a lot more money over the lifetime of that deal than 39.4M. I guarantee you know one values that contract as an expiring just like I'm almost positive that none of the teams bidding for him see him as a rental/flight risk.

gosh darn misinformation on podcasts, it's not my fault! I never even looked at Jrue's contract.

Who the heck is this dude… he knew about the grievance.
he's the guy dapping up Jimmy here. apparently he knows stuff from time to time according to Heat forums.
