A 2nd unit with Collins, Biggie, Curry, Stauskas (all can shoot the ball) and Turner as a play maker does make sense.

A 2nd unit with inconsistent shooters or non shooters (Ed) with Turner - is not a great fit.
Any bench with Turner makes NO sense.

I know what you mean. His moves so far are so small, they're practically invisible.

Stop batting your eyelashes innocently. When you recount history from his slant, you know perfectly well that you're defending him.
I'm seriously trying to figure out what you are asking me? Are you saying that trading Crabbe for Nicholson and generating the TPE isn't something I'm allowed to rationalize unless I said it before the trade occurred?

TPE's are valuable if the team that has them chooses to use them. Matching Crabbe's offer sheet from the Nets was made so we didn't lose Crabbe for nothing because he did have some hope for improving still (shot 44% from 3 the next season). If the TPE expires and we paid Crabbe like $18 million for one year and then have dead money on the books for 5 years with nothing else to show for it then yes it would be a failure of Olshey. There are still 19 days until I can fairly judge the situation. It did in fact help us dodge the tax this year, which would have been the owner's directive not the GM but that doesn't help improve the team like was promised.

Devin Harris is a closer comparison.

That works:

Look at this young Steven A.

We actually let the smallest guy walk...Bazz….and Connaughton was our version of Sasha Pavlovic in his 30s.....we got two better players to replace both of them...and a 2nd round pick that'll make Stauskas nervous about minutes in Trent Jr...we tried really big with Hasheem Thabeet...didn't really pan out

If course your sitting here saying Stauskas is better...

He's not. He's horrible at every part of the game except 3pt shooting. If he's getting minutes along with Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard, then we're screwed.

You say this like Pat was good... He's easily replaceable and Neil has done just that.

then we're screwed.
glad I don't enter the season with this opinion....I'm actually excited for the new look and optimistic about the guys we signed...how much Stauskas has anybody really seen? I've seen him shoot well, handle the ball, pass well, finish through contact..etc….watched every youtube clip I could find on both guys..don't get the watering down critique you've laid out about him but hey.....

Why should he? Can you come up with a comment or take on anything other than defending NO?
hey man, at this point theres nothing to defend him against! He's won some and lost some and he has 23 other organizations that hasn't done any better than he.
Ive been consistent that come mid season and depending on the trend we are going I'll support the org as a die hard round ball fanatic. If he takes us in a downward way then changes should be made.
But I bet he succeeds in improving again this year like the last 3. Just my opinion.
But good lord there is much more to discuss when it comes to this league and team.
Bash him and the team all you want its your dime!

We don't need guards. We need roster balance, which means a true SF (shooter, dribbler, passer--a tall version of a SG, though down to 6 foot 6 is acceptable if Olshey can't get a taller one).

Instead he got 4 guards (which means that 3 won't play). If he needed a guard (doubtful--a very very secondary need beneath SF), it was a tall defensive guard, not the guards he got. For years he has ignored defense in every pick drafted, free agent signed, and coach hired.

Olshey wastefully spun his wheels to replace what we were already good enough at (Napier was just fine). He ignored roster balance (a true small forward), as he always does. He values (overpays) the wrong players. Year after year, he wastes another year. The Lakers notice, and have started a media campaign to dissolve our star's willpower to stay.

I say F**K Y*U Lakers, and all the LA Media Whores who lick their *****.

I just want to say FUCK YOU NEIL!!!!!!! For implying Ed was the reason New Orleans swept the team and for personally 'counceling' Ed to take the money from Brooklyn. Who the fuck does that!

FUCK YOU!!!!!!

NO didn't say Ed Davis was the reason but a reason we struggled. On offense we'd be 4 on 5 with Ed on the floor. His only shot on offense is a dunk and teams key in on that especially during the playoffs.

Say what you want.....we are NOT better with him playing on another team.
Right now we're not that's for sure. But NO obviously feels like Collins and Biggie are ready to take over for Ed. There's a reason he drafted two PF's last year--he was planning on having to move on from Ed. Factor in the rumor that we were going after Boogie in a sign and trade and it makes sense why NO told Ed that the Brooklyn deal was his best bet for playing time/money.

You can see on NO's face that he wishes he kept Ed after striking out on Cousins now haha.

Lmao. How? So if a center can't shoot 3s, then it's like he's not on the floor? We got trapped on pick n rolls and didn't use other sets, so we settled for crappy jumpers that were bound to miss. The only reason those shots could be productive? Ed Davis. It's funny how now that he's gone, fans are saying he hurt us and wasn't important. What a joke. And now somehow Stauskas is the next J.J. Redick.

Makes 0 sense. His only shot is a dunk? Ed had a knack of getting to the rim and getting his shot off at different angles, and was efficient as doing so.

Not every single player on the court has to be able to shoot jumpshots.

No one is saying he wasn't important to us calm down. He was very important in the rebounding/screening department and was a great teammate. But NO has targeted shooting for this offseason. NO thinks that Zach Collins can replace Ed in the rebounding/screening and provide shooting.

And you can't say teams didn't completely ignored Ed on offense because they did especially in the playoffs. It sucks if Ed could consistently hit a 15' footer he'd probably be here still.
