No one is saying he wasn't important to us calm down. He was very important in the rebounding/screening department and was a great teammate. But NO has targeted shooting for this offseason. NO thinks that Zach Collins can replace Ed in the rebounding/screening and provide shooting.

And you can't say teams didn't completely ignored Ed on offense because they did especially in the playoffs. It sucks if Ed could consistently hit a 15' footer he'd probably be here still.
I'm perfectly calm, I'm just questioning why some people (including our GM) aren't valuing Davis at all.

We don't need Ed shooting 15 footers. That's not a good shot. Why do we need him to do that? It makes no sense. We should play Trent over ET then and keep Ed. 4 shooters on the floor at one time is enough. Everyone could shoot except ET, Nurk, and Ed.

Zach won't rebound like Ed. Ed provided us a valuable spark off the bench that were gonna miss.

NO didn't say Ed Davis was the reason but a reason we struggled. On offense we'd be 4 on 5 with Ed on the floor. His only shot on offense is a dunk and teams key in on that especially during the playoffs.

That's on Stotts, not Davis. Good coaching negates that sort of thing...otherwise Rodman wouldn't have any rings.

We're going to miss him for sure. But I'm pretty confident that Biggie can be that spark off the bench for us. Only time will tell but we don't draft Biggie without the idea of Ed eventually moving on unfortunately.

Edit: Grammar

Lmao. How? So if a center can't shoot 3s, then it's like he's not on the floor? We got trapped on pick n rolls and didn't use other sets, so we settled for crappy jumpers that were bound to miss. The only reason those shots could be productive? Ed Davis. It's funny how now that he's gone, fans are saying he hurt us and wasn't important. What a joke. And now somehow Stauskas is the next J.J. Redick.

Makes 0 sense. His only shot is a dunk? Ed had a knack of getting to the rim and getting his shot off at different angles, and was efficient as doing so.

Not every single player on the court has to be able to shoot jumpshots.
Yep. Davis' hooks in the paint were underappreciated.

Ed Davis got nothing but love from me and everyone around here...still does..hell he's on a one year deal...we could actually sign him again one day...saying you understand why they let him sign in Brooklyn and not appreciating him are really not on the same page at all....I don't see the issue being made about it

haven't read one post or heard one person in the franchise say this at all....who's making shit up? fact....
Lmao. An opinion based on opinions verse an opinion that's disproven by stats.

The way you stretch and reach is something else.

Man... you have set your expectation bar at a might low level
I expect nothing...then avoid disappointments...when someone says nobody can say a bad thing about Olshey….hey...I had an answer

Anybody who doesn't think it's a bad move to let Ed walk or think Swanigan can provide what Ed provided is underappreciating him, in my opinion. Nobody can really replicate what Ed brought to the table, and it was extremely valuable.

Yeah, I always thought he was a GOOD shooter, much better than average from in close. Most guys his size were blocked or intimidated, but his well-guarded 6-footers sailed through opponents'
arms right into the hoop.

Olshey said he was on the phone as Davis got his Nets offer, and influenced Davis to accept this very first offer. So Olshey had a much lower opinion of him than we do.

could be...I don't get that impression

Agreed, but hopefully Swanigan can come close--or maybe he'll bring something different to the table that Ed wasn't able to do? Only time will tell. Neil has said how much Ed mattered to this team.

We'll see BonesJones. The Warriors won the title without Ed Davis so it can be done.

We need guys that can finish inside. Swanigan isn't that guy, Ed was. We need balance, but it was seems like were stocking up on way too many 3pt shooters.

Well when you finish only 16th in the league in made threes per game you need to make some adjustments. Sucks it was Ed that had to take the fall.

Well maybe he can be that guy who can finish inside. Same standing reach as Ed and 3 " longer wing span. So it is not his length that is the issue. It's possible that he just needed time to adjust to taller players? You never know....

yeah...and the fact he played about 5 minutes last season compared to Ed playing for 4 franchises and matching up against every big in the league game after game for years…..let's compare the rookie and his lack of experience fairly if we compare them..Swanigan has a 3 pt shot as well...It's like Chief....he has the wingspan of Nurk….people forget how long he really is and how quick he is.

I don't want to bag on Ed because he was one of my favorite players, but he was a liability at the free throw line at the end of games. But damn he brought it every night. Can Caleb become mentally tough? Again I think he has it in him do so. He has been through a lot.
