You got a lot of damn gall, complaining about the process. Your 'team' didn't even require a unsubstantiated allegation to torpedo Garland, and you were absolutely fine with that.

Fact is, Republicans still have a majority, so if they want to vote Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court, they can do so, no matter what evidence comes to light.

If he fails, it will be because of Republicans, not Democrats.

On the other hand, all of the accusers are calling for an FBI investigation and testimony under oath from witnesses, and he is not, and the Republicans are blocking an investigation while complaining the accusations are unproven. Wonder why that is?

Aside from Kavanaugh himself, the GOP strategy of ramming through a new justice doesn't make sense to me. They seem to think that a successful confirmation will help them in the midterms by motivating their base. I don't agree - angry people tend to vote in higher numbers than happy people. I think their best strategy would be to let the nomination fight continue beyond election day and blame the D's for dragging the process out, or to drop the nomination and blame the D's for 'destroying the life of this very fine man'. Confirm him and your voters will be complacent, and you've pissed off pretty much everyone else. Not a good plan.

I honestly think the die is cast. Either way, the anti-trump contingency (which is gigantic) is extremely motivated and the pro-Trump crowd is lackluster as a whole.

I would agree with that - likely however the supreme court battle plays out, it will be a marginal effect on the overall election results. Nonetheless, Republicans presumably should have an interest in reducing the size of the wave by whatever amount they can?

Part of me wonders if certain Republicans actually want to lose, so they can make even more money on the outside. They can on tours around the country and preach the choir, while raking in the big bucks.

The funny thing about that malapropism is that unwanted sexual conquests such as those of which he and Kavanaugh are accuesed could legitimately be termed "false acquisitions".
