Kawhi wants out of SA

As they should....

Exactly, why would they want to help assemble another super team in the Western Conference? Sending Kawhi to LAL would be the first domino, making it more likely for PG13 and then LeBron to go there. Right now, LAL have ZERO pieces of a Big 3. No point in giving them that first piece.

If SAS does trade Kawhi, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be to an Eastern Conference team. That organization did not win 5 titles in a small market by being run by idiots.

I agree and I hope to hell you are right, but.........LA can offer a nice package without matching salary because they are under the cap.(Right???) So a package of Ingram, Hart and Kuzma and a #1 would be tempting.

Except they need to preserve that cap space to make runs at PG13 and LeBron. They currently have a Big 0. To get to a Big 3, they need to trade for 1 and have the cap space to sign the other 2. Although they may end up getting PG13, I'd really love to see the Lakers clear a ton of cap space and then totally whiff in the free agent market.

Aren't they like 70 million under the cap? Subtract those young players and add Kawhi' 19 mil and you still have around 58. Paul George is not worth the max.... he might have to be happy with 23 mil. But I agree with you

According to Spotrac, they currently have $50,418,059 in cap space and $61,856,635 "practical cap space". I'm guessing the difference would be renouncing Julius Randle to remove his cap hold.

Especially since this is the Spurs and lakers we're talking about, two teams that has had their history with one another. Speaking of (L)Eastern conference teams, I wonder what Boston would have to give up. A healthy Kawhi, Kyrie, and Hayward can definitely take the (L)East.

Simons, Trent, Caleb, a #1 and Harkless is a decent package for Pop to consider. (and a couple non guaranteed contracts to match salaries)

So, apparently the Spurs have made it clear that IF they trade Kawhi, it will NOT be to ANY Western team. (So we can stop trying to cobble together moonshot packages that would all be worse than what ten other teams can offer.)

ALSO: Paul George is looking very likely to stay in OKC.

ALSO: Chris Paul is almost a lock to stay in Houston.

ALSO: There's no way LeBron goes to the Lakers without at least ONE of them...

So it's not looking great for HCP's dreams.

My bet: Philly trades for Kawhi (the Brett Brown-Pop connection) and Philly makes a big play for LeBron. We get involved by trading our TPE for Bayless + a pick.

That is one EXPENSIVE pick. It better be a damn good one

He's quirky enough, maybe it's a Disney thing, not actually an LA thing?
Or he doesn't hold as much leverage as he thinks and SA wants to send him into NBA irrelevance while getting prospects back in return.

Just interesting that Vegas is in on something.

What does that mean? And what's it based on?
It means Vegas thinks Kawhi is more likely to end up in Orlando than San Antonio next season.

What it's based on--- your guess is as good as any. We have never heard them mentioned before.

If Spurs are going to trade him I don’t see a better destination than Sixers. The only way he’s not going to end up there is if he specifically tells Sixers he doesn’t want to play for them and won’t resign there under any circumstances (then they just won’t offer the deal).

Any combination of Saric, Covington, Fultz, Smith and Miami 2021 unprotected pick would work. I don’t think they will have to offer all five assets, I think three or maximum four will suffice. I don’t think Zhaire will be included - he was almost certainly selected to replace Covington who will be put in package to make salaries match. I am not sure they will want to include Fultz but will probably have to - maybe they can manage to avoid including Dario but I also think Spurs will want him pretty badly.

Also, Spurs won 47 games last season basically without Kawhi. Add Saric, Covington and healthy Fultz (plus Lonnie Walker who should be ready to play from the go) to that line up and I don’t see how they don’t win 52 minimum, probably 55+, plus they have a couple of long term building blocks plus a potentially great pick in what could become a properly stacked class if high schoolers are allowed to enter that year (won’t be before that year so it will be a double draft, even a late lottery pick could be worth a haul and Miami could be a very high pick).

I'd never count out Danny Ainge in the Kawhi sweepstakes....he's the Trader Bob of the league
