LA gone before or on draft day (2 Viewers)

I noticed the Syracuse pattern 20 years ago. But because of my silence, I lost my crown.

I'm not doubting too hard, and I didn't see him play this year--what's the difference between him and 2009 Beasley, other than Beasley did better in college?

Also keep in mind that Beasley is lazy and still has averaged 19/7 per 36 minutes

His PER has gone down each year, because of his work ethic, but started his rookie year at 17.2

Would you take a rookie forward with a great work ethic who gave us a 17.2 PER and 19/7?

All you had to say was "scrap". ;)

If the LA to Cleveland scenario occurs, is it not funny how both teams will be just playing "the grass is greener on the other side"?

Both teams have about the same talent if you subtract LMA from our team and the #1 from theirs.

Honestly, it's more of a timing thing.

lillard < kyrie

hickson > tristan

batum > luke walton

lma > varejao

waiters = barton

zeller = leonard

mathews > boobie

How do you figure?

Adding LA puts Cleveland at about the same salary situation as we are in currently. The big pay day for Irving will not count for another couple of years.

i mean I think they are a year or so ahead of us in the rebuilding stage

Who is this Hickson you speak of?

And right now, Soup Juggler is better than Barton

tristan is worse than hickson, if he is the big piece coming back, thats dumb as fuck

What do they have that we do not?

Irving and Lillard are close in value.

I would rather build around Wes at the 2 compared to Waiters.

There is a huge difference at SF.

Thompson is average and the reason they are wanting to build around LMA.

Zeller and Leonard are close in value, with Zeller being better now and Leonard having more potential.

Varejao is the better center, but I would not want to build around someone with his size due to injury concerns.

Nothing else on the Cleveland roster excites me.

Irving is by far a better player than Lillard and he is younger.

Matthews is a one dimensional player, and Soupy is from the Cuse, so that's a wash

SF per 36 12/4.5/2 vs 13.5/5/4.5 Not really huge

So Zeller is better to a player wanting to win now....check

Again, Vaginajao is the better player at C than anything on our roster

What else on our roster excites you?

Thompson makes far less than LMA. It would free up another 10 million to sign a solid PF like Al Jefferson. A rotation of Al + Thompson is better than our current PF rotation.

why would you trade LMA and then sign someone like Al Jefferson ?

yeah, but it'll be more expensive. this is Al Jefferson's time for a big contact + Thompson will have his large contract extension in 2 years. on a talent standpoint, its a downgrade. You figure Jeffersons going to get 12m per year or so on a new contract and Thompson is only 4 now but will probably ask for 8-9m a year if he plays decently at all on his next contract.

Add in #1s salary and #19s and we only free up around 4m in space if we trade LA for the proposed deal.

so if

hickson >tristan
and
lma> big al

what sense does that make??? if you want tristan so bad, just resign hickson, he is better

I don't think Tristan Thompson will reach the heights that LA has , but I agree with the thinking that he could be a "Dale Davis" type of player at the PF position, solid if unspectacular.....so not 20/10 but 15/10 around? I think that is likely....You get a player like that back PLUS the #1 and #19 pick, I don't think that is necessarily a bad return for LA.....

Tristan Thompson, Texas: After some waffling I decided that Tristan Thompson is the best PF available and the #2 prospect in this draft behind Irving. Thompson is a solid defender, doesn’t have the negatives Morris does. His other numbers are promising enough. The most impressive thing here is the fact that Thompson improved during the season. He posted his highest R40 and B40 numbers in March. His 2-point FG pct improved every month. After posting a .495 in Nov-Dec, he followed with months of .558, .562 and .612. Improvement during the season is not the norm, especially for freshmen PFs. Most PFs pile up their best numbers early against weaker competition. That Thompson improved during the season suggest he’s a more impressive prospect than his overall numbers would have me believe. It also fits in with all the positive reports that have come out regarding his attitude and work ethic.

I’m still not sure what his high end is though. For all the talk about work ethic and attitude, there aren’t many signs of the dominance in his numbers that project him as anything other than a solid contributor. I would call him a safe pick at this point. Everything about him says he’ll be better than his stats and that projects him as a long time solid NBA PF

Irving is by far a better player than Lillard and he is younger. He has also shown a habit of being injured and you discount Lillard improving any.

Matthews is a one dimensional player, and Soupy is from the Cuse, so that's a wash Offensively maybe a wash. No doubt Wesley is better on defense.

SF per 36 12/4.5/2 vs 13.5/5/4.5 Not really huge If you totally ignore the defensive side of the ball. Using this logic, which of the following players would you want with PTS/RBS/BL 17.9/14.5/1.3 vs 26.8/11.5/1.6 vs 25.9/13.4/1.7 #1 is still on his rookie contract, #2 you could trade for the #1 and #19, plus the first player and shed over 14M in salary, #3 is a free agent

Having Batum is a huge difference.

Yet we won 9 more games with historically one of the worse benches ever and a tougher Western Conference?

Ya, I have nothing to back me up. Just what I feel.

Irving only played 59 games
Vaginajao only played 25 games

I think that probably has a lot to do with it. I would assume those two would add 9 wins.

And if they were Blazers, you would probably be saying that those injuries prove that they're injury-prone bums. Which probably is true anyway.

Al actually has a higher PER than LaMarcus and helped his team to a better record last season. I'd take #1, #19 and Thompson for LaMarcus in a second. The cash freed up would make the Blazers major players in free agency and really make this roster deep.
