That tweet has been taken down on LA's twitter site....what did it say?

Dame tweeted he’d take Aldridge back out of everyone and aldridge replied with the eyes emoji

so...done deal then! Lamarcus has been saying he'd like to come back for at least a year now.

How would we get Aldridge back?

Probably a handful of ways to get it done.

If we're slightly under the cap, we could use that room, a pick or young assest, and a S&T Whiteside on a one year deal.

Spurs do it to get out of $50m of LMA over 2 years and start their rebuild. Portland does it to try and salvage the last couple years of Dame's prime.

Dame had taken over the Blazers twitter yesterday and said that. Prolly can't do that from the main page-- hence the takedown.

I’m still very very salty he left us hanging. Don’t know how I would feel him coming back to Portland.

I'm fine with it.

I think he'd be good as a third big behind Nurk/Collins. I'd rather have him than Whiteside. Now if he wants so many touches or guaranteed role then pass.

I think at this point he is over himself and knows he's past his prime. If he has a better chance to win on Dame's team than in SA he'd be up for it.

I’m just hurt badly by him hosing us. Almost unforgivable imo. Don’t worry, if he does come and helps us win, all is forgiven.

Dame
CJ
Ariza
Aldridge
Nurkic

That’s a beautiful five. Making a trade might require a third team/gymnastics, but it’s a players league...they usually get what they want. Spurs should probably be looking to retool, while Portland needs to make a serious push while they have their best players locked up.

I will say this though, id probably wanna take a longer look at the Collins/PF experiment before pursuing Aldridge. We may get that chance once the season resumes, but I also wouldn’t mind waiting another season.

I like the idea of Zach as our third big man, and he can come off the bench in a pinch. Nurk at his peak here still only played 29 mpg, and Aldridge in the low 30s the past few years. Plenty of minutes to go around for all three and good versatility of skillsets.

Is it bad that I totally forgot Ariza was still here?

I think he decided he didn't want another rebuild after the window closed from Wes injury. He had been through Roy and Oden rebuilds. He also liked the idea of playing in his hometown state of Texas and a team with legends begging him to come. Maybe he was a bit jealous of Dame too.

If they had the current CBA he would've extended the summer prior and we wouldn't have lost him.

Turns out the move to SAS didn't help his legacy. He is in the conversation as maybe the 8th best Spurs of recent times after Robinson, Elliot, Duncan, Avery, Parker, Ginobili, Kawhi. He might be behind a number of others too. I just don't think he's full of himself like he was previously. If I'm wrong and he wants a guarantee role/touches/etc don't try to get him.

I got over LaMarcus leaving awhile ago. It wasn't close to as bad as Drexler leaving. Heck I might be more mad at the way Roy or Miles left.

my assumption is Pop would want Collins in a hypothetical Aldridge trade.

If it came down to it I’d rather wait a year and sign him in free agency next year. He’ll be 36, maybe we can get him with the MLE.
At least with him, I doubt we'd see him walk in just a yr if we were to trade for him.

yeah he won’t walk again and I think his game is aging similarly to Gasol, who was an all star at 35 and an effective player through his age 37 season. I think aldridge has three more good seasons in him.

i feel like pau extended his career by embracing becoming a center. not sure LA would do that, or would have to here.

He definitely knows he’s past his prime that’s why he wants to come back here

In the modern NBA, Aldridge is a center. That's just a fact. He'd be an upgrade over Whiteside as a backup, but honestly is he really ok with not starting AND playing a position he's traditionally bitched about playing?
