Trade Larry Nance Jr traded to Portland

I don’t think Olshey would make that trade, but I could be wrong. Olshey knows how close Dame and CJ are, and he wants to bring them both a title in Portland
I actually don't CJ gets traded either and if there is a chance it might happen perhaps the deadline but even then I sorta doubt it. seems like we may roll with this lineup after the Nance trade, maybe pickup one more vet? someone like Love (don't really want him) if he gets bought out?

Nance, who is Covington Jr. (same height but looks less fearsome...Draymond Lite? not qite), makes our PF lineup so short that it's almost cute.
he's the same height pretty much as Big Ben Wallace....just needs the fro...

We replaced Melo and Kanter with Nance and Zeller. What a huge defensive upgrade for the bench.

If one of Ant or Nas breaks out we could be a legit winner better than the Dame+LMA squads. Still not a favorite like the 2000 Blazers, but more than the gimmick of the Dame WCF team that never had a real chance.

With Covington, Nance, Nurkic, Zeller, Snell, Little, mclemore, and Chauncey they have no excuse to not be at least top half in league defensively. None. And if they aren’t it’s solely on Lillard and CJ. They just need to try and they will be so much better.

Nance is clealy better than DJJ.

The problem is, we had to give up a 1st round pick and the guy we used our Full-MLE on last year to get an injury prone bench player. That really shows how bad of a signing DJJ was.

I agree. This is the first time in 5+ years we've started to build a roster who has a chance to be a good defensive team.

I still worry that if teams can get by Dame/CJ easily, we'll still be helping/rotating far too much to be an elite defensive team.

I really don't understand how most of this board immediately knew the signing was bad..... and yet Neil did not.

And some still believe it was a good signing, but he just wasn't used correctly. Will be interesting to see if DJJ breaks out in Cleveland, or not.

Neil looks past the immediate.... unlike many of the chicken brains in here.

Olshey knows he's not going to be here in 2 years, so he doesn't care about long-term planning at this point.

When will the first thread be created complaining that we are last in the league in bench points?

People wanted Nance. We traded DJJ and a protected first getting into the Markkanen deal to land him. And yet there's no thread here about it.

How does that happen?

Sooooo Olshey kinda fell into this deal and wasn't originally targeting Nance. Sounds about right.

Yes. And he didn't draft Damian. Lucked into Nurk. CJ was his backup plan. Gary Trent Jr draft was on an accident. Chauncey was his 5th choice.

Basically, all the failure of the team is on him but none of the success because apparently it's all just some lucky accident. Cool.

Obviously I like this deal but I’m still struggling to see how this raises our ceiling. Our floor for sure, but ceiling?
C'mon Man! The sky's the limit if the Blazers stay healthy. Positive vibes Bro.
