The new Foot Locker commercial celebrating fathers day is priceless.

A few in coming rookies telling how great their dads are, and what they did with them as a kid, fishing, never missing a game, letting me win as a kid, etc. Then Lonzo Ball comes on and tells all the wacked out things his dad has done like berate your high school coach, copywrites your name, tells you where youre gonna go to college, tells 29 NBA teams not to draft you, telling people your son is better than the league mvp, shouting with SAS

It's really funny. Lonzo comes off great

Prediction: Now that the draft has happened Lavar Ball fades into irrelevancy and it is almost as if he never opened his mouth.

Now it's Lonzos turn to write his story... I still think the bust potential is there.

How much you wanna bet he gets a reality tv show?

I don't see that happening. ESPN is the only one who talks about him, and they don't do that stuff. Maybe a 30 for 30 if Lonzo becomes a star.

I'm sure he's had multiple offers.

I know someone that had offers for a reality tv show on Oxygen. And that person didn't have a fraction of the spotlight that lavar has had.

Wishing your prediction will be spot on; however, the Ball family PR express train is just starting to roll.

Anytime a journalist needs a news topic (which is often), all they have to do is poke one of the Ball family members for a tabloid news story.

Example; I just finished reading an article about the draft. There were about 10 topics discussed concerning draft night. Three of the topics were about the Balls; the #2 pick, old man Ball quotes, and Melo’s suit.

OK it was a fairly boring draft night, but writing about Melo’s suit is going too far.

Yeah, I'd say the P.R, train is working overtime for the Ball Family. Whomever wrote that "Don't ever change" Father's Day article in the Player's Tribune deserves a pay raise.

"He's not a over possessive helicopter parent.... He genially loves his son. There is nothing wrong with that!"

Object Reached, Intented Public Reaction achieved.

But seriously, I really hope that Ball reaches his potential in the NBA. He seems like a good kid and I love his game. But Lonzo, make sure YOU have control of who runs your show and who you have train you, feed you and take care of your affairs. Because no matter if they are family, they look at you as a fish and want to take you to "minnow state."

He better have game quickly. I still think he is going to flame out. Too much pressure and money at stake.

This. Is. Not. News.

I mostly agree. But it shows you, one, kids will be kids. And two, I don't judge them, but I don't necessarily think they're as wise or squeaky clean as some folks believe.

So do you think that the WWE's apology was a way to blow this up and paint them in a bad light? I don't think most of us would know about this without the apology (which was front and center on msn.com this AM).

The wrestler shoulda beat that n****s ass! :biglaugh:

If I had made the leap that LaMelo was referring to the wrestler beating Lavar, would I be racist for assuming he was talking about Lavar?

This is totally not to be argumentative, by the way. Honest question.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with what he did.

This really is a non argument. Black folk can use the word. White folk can't. The minute y'all accept this, we won't have to talk about it anymore.

Agree to disagree. Overblown? Yes. Dumb and immature? Absolutely.

Considering a sizable white, redneck audience... Why do people not understand why some folks get comfortable with the word or even use it?

But for real.... For someone who tells people they didn't answer your question.... You didn't answer mine.

I accept it. I don't use the word. Please don't lump me in that group. But you leapt right to it being LaMelo talking about his pops. I didn't make that leap. Those white folks that did..... Are they racist?

What? I didn't say he was talking about his father. You did. I said he was talking about the wrestler. And if he said to one wrestler "beat that n****s ass". I could really care less.

Your words. From this, it seems very clear that you believe LaMelo is telling the wrestler to beat his dad's ass. Since there was only one "wrestler" in the ring?

Jesus... It's our word. We took the negative version and turned it on it's head. Not sure why people get up in arms when we use it.

Just don't say either.... :dunno:

Um no... I didn't really read the story. I assumed he was telling one wrestler to beat the other wrestler's ass. :dunno:

I literally was trying to have an intelligent conversation. It was partially built off one we had about the Ball family.

People preach here, "educate yourself", "learn", "understand". People also have to be willing teachers.

I mean, if you don't know what I'm talking about, just say so. It's no disrespect intended.

I just now realized this. I said so when I realized it. I saw the story, looked at the pic, heard the quote, and assumed two wrestlers were wrestling and he said it to one of them. I guess I'll look further into the story...
