If the Mavs are going to all offense, they need a Don Nelson type of coach. Avery's philosophy is all about defense. The team right now just lost its two best defenders.

Jason Kidd, the guy who got me into basketball i remember just just getting onto basketball in 5th grade and watching him play againt the spurs in the finials. just watch this guy, how much he loves to compete, how he always wants to win, and how he played every night had me addicted to basketball ever since. its gonna be sad seeing my favorite player leave but he left at the right time and i hope he can finally get a championship.

Just thought that I for one can't beleive that there are so many people doubting this trade for dallas. Kidd is actually gonna make them a ver viable contender. Our team without kidd against the raptors legitimatley looked like a bunch of 2nd graders who didnt know what they were doing.....(hence the blowout)</div>

I'm sure you're sick of hearing this, but...Welcome to S2, Piff!

All I gotta say is, for one thing, I hope Devean George never receives one pass from Jason Kidd.

And I can't wait to see the Nets face the Mavs again.

Also, I hope Van Horn actually puts on a uni, and maybe even plays. That would be sick.

Lastly, I can't wait to see Dallas get pwned by the Lakers, Spurs, and Suns.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Real @ Feb 18 2008, 11:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Welcome to S2 piff, PM me if you have any questions or concerns.

On paper it should vault the Mavericks to the next level, up there with the Suns, Spurs, Hornets, or a healthy Laker team. However, it's important to keep in mind they gave up alot, especially Devin Harris, who could defend the Paul's, the Nash's, and the Parker's in the West, the three fastest point gaurds in this league, and Kidd really hasn't been the same for some time unfortunately defensively, not even as good as two years ago when he was first team All-NBA defense.

They need a backup center as well. Diop bought defense and shot-blocking, and if you're going up against Duncan, Gasol, Amare, Shaq, etc. you're going to need a low post defender.

We shall see, either way. However, I think it's clear the Nets got the best deal, even better than I expected, for a 35 year old point gaurd. I know there's been a lot of criticism aimed at Thorn for poorly constructing this team, but he deserves kudos for this.</div>

I think the trade's a total coup for us, but I also think Kidd's about to hit a sharp decline.

If nothing else, we're going to be a LOT better defensively. Harris is a much better on the ball defender than Kidd, and Diop is a monster in the paint. If the Violent Brothers can step up and replace what we lost in Kidd's help defense and rebounding, at least one aspect of the team should improve.

With that said, our offense is about to tank big time. Hope you're healthy Vince, cause you're gonna have to carry the team.

Don't know if anyone reads Bill Simmons, but I think this Kidd situation has serious Ewing/Tiki Barber Theory potential.

Sorry guys! I hate to say this but, kidd's chances of gettin' a ring are done.Dallas is full of softies.I dont see em pass the 2nd round.Really disappointed,ya REALLY.

In the west... it should be considered an accomplishment to get to the 2nd round. If it was the east it would be a different story. Everyone knows the teams Lakers, Mavs, Suns, Spurs, Nuggets, Jazz, Hornets... list goes on and on... i think Houston is like 13 games over .500 and theyre the odd man out.

Though I'm glad to see such a great player finally have a chance to win it all, this is going to get worse (for the nets) before it gets any better, so I'm not going to expect much out of this team for a while

Yeah but you don't morgage your future so you can acquire Jason Kidd at 35 years old to make the second round.

I can't see this as anything but a disappointment if they don't win it all.

The Mavs want to win, now. They have a 1-2 year window, so they must make sacrifices, and please Dirk. Will the Mavs win it all? We will determine it soon enough, but at least Dallas is looking to make necessary steps; for the good of a championship.

Of course not. Swift missed 2 games with the nets before frank let him play.

You do know this is the eastern conference, correct? And Carter being gone would be a good thing, FWIW.

KVH was the ultimate player in the 2K series. Tall, could shoot. I remember dropping 100 points on a pal(as a team) in 5 minute quarters w/ him. He missed a single shot, and just missed out on 100 points.

JKidd, start losing in Dallas. Thanks for the memories.

anyone think KVH actually plays for us, like on the court?

I think Nets fans should be thrilled, there is no way they are getting rid of RJ right now, he means to much to that franchise. In two three years now he will be the all time leading scorer in NETS history. Getting rid of carter would be a dream come true, because he is 31 with no legs to jump anymore. I think the future looks bright, and maybe with some time with M-Williams, I know everyone is down but it could be a confidence issue, I think we could start Harris at SG. We could have a starting five of M-Williams, Harris, Jefferson, Krstic, Boone. Thats not a bad starting 5 to have out there. Listen I know Marcus looks like a bust, but first off he missed alot of training camp, a third of the season, and he was a backup to Kidd, losing minutes to D-Armstrong. He might just be rusty, but if we throw him into the starting lineup and let him go 35 minutes a night, we might be surprised at the results. Just a thought!

I'm rooting for it, but it's doubtful.

He will be at every game and practice, though.

I think he'll get in 1 home game at the least. Just to say good bye.

It'll be a great moment, as this was a guy that wanted to play in NJ! Forcing a trade away from the 76ers. (K so he perferred playing w/ the Nets instead of the 76ers. Good enough for me!)

sweet. We're better than the Heat then!

And I see the same banner on Netsdaily?

Since no one has done this yet...

Harris/Armstrong/M. Williams
Carter/Hassell
Jefferson/Nachbar
Boone/S. Williams/Swift
Krstic/Diop

Inactive - Magloire, Van Horn

D-League - Ager

Still three more days until the deadline, though.

That looks about right.

I think I'd prefer Marcus play over Hassell, but whatever.
