So, we’re going to follow The Secret and win a championship with positive thoughts? I admit, I got sucked into when it first came out….It didn’t work

Good looks?

In my view they're starting by addressing the defense...and negative thoughts definitely have never led to championships either...secret is health and luck. There's just the most parity in the league I can ever remember now. Nobody is guaranteed a chip...not Denver, not LA, not the Bucks etc...Dame is smart to dig in and lead by example. I know if the franchise traded away Dame, I'd be looking for another sport to follow. I like the loyalty, I like the journey. This season is going to be fun...the new guys are better than CJ Elleby or Keon Johnson

I hear ya…I think we all have our reasons for watching. I happen to love the process, and that includes building up, tearing down and building up again. I enjoyed the past couple tank seasons, watching the young guys play hard, and grow. I love the underdog. For you, it sounds like you enjoy watching Damian. I have, and will continue, whether he’s here or elsewhere. I’ll be honest, I’m in it for entertainment, and don’t understand loyalty to a person I know nothing about, other than their public persona. But again, that’s just my perspective, and perspectives vary.

Honest question no trolling: you said if the franchise trades him you'd look for another sport.

Is that different if Dame asks out and the franchise does it for him?

@hoopsjock mentioned we refused to even talk about Jaylen Brown with the Celtics after Jerami and Dame laid the groundwork.

Is this true??

it's actually very simple. If Blazers use the full-MLE (about 11M) they can not, for any reason, exceed the apron; they will be hard-capped again. That apron will be around 169M
And if they use the taxpayer MLE?

absolutely...I only want players who want to be here but if the franchise traded this guy away, I'd move on...when it comes to the NBA my interest has waned over the superteam era anyway..I think Dame is the perfect leader to cheer for. I wouldn't forgive the front office for moving him and wanting to rebuild at this point. I didn't watch one playoff game this year, I watched tennis instead. If Dame wanted out, I'd still cheer for the Blazers and could support the front office in that decision.

You would hope that before Cronin makes some semi-big move, Dame would provide him assurances that it was enough to end this drama for years.
I don't think it's about the roster itself. Dame wants to go back to making the playoffs every season, and never wants to experience tanking again.
Edit: meaning, what Cronin needs to do is get the Blazers back into the playoffs and be competitive. A big trade doesn't guarantee anything.

Agreed that there are no guarantees.

For me it's all about improving a teams probability of success.

That's really really really hard to believe.... Didn't he guarantee Brown would be a Blazer based off his source? If so, his source really led him on by making him that confident, despite the Blazers being unwilling to discuss trading for him.

Do you really think any front office wouldn't even pick up the phone to discuss a trade where they would receive a young, 2nd-team All NBA player? Doesn't pass the smell test what-so-ever.

Sounds like that "guarantee" was based on Jerami and Dame, not the FO.

Regardless, this FO is really good at saying one thing and doing another.

Come on... you don't really think any front office would turn down a phone call to discuss a young All-NBA player, do you?

There are plenty of reasons to be frustrated without using hyperbolic, unfounded narratives.

PS- I don't mean this to knock Hoopjock. The guy seems to love the team, love Dame, and knows the CBA. However, saying stuff like that is silly.

Sounds more like we never asked.

If I understand your version of the story... Dame/Jerami had Brown lined up to want to come to Portland, told Cronin, and Cronin never called Boston.

That is incredibly hard to believe. It's hard for me to believe that all teams aren't in communication with each other based on what I know (GSW/PDX may be the exception).

I would hope anyone who thinks critically about the situation might realize why that narrative is being thrown out.

There is one possibility that it feels like we are all ignoring.

They reportedly didn’t want Brown because of the money. They reportedly didn’t want Siakam because of the money. They seem to only be happy if they stay under the tax. They LOVE rookie contracts.

Maybe they subscribe to the Donald Sterling school of front office management.

They didn't want Siakam because the day before the draft he said he would not sign an extension with any team he was traded to.

They wanted him. But they didn't want him as a 1 year rental, and they didn't want to give up Sharpe.

What if they’re stringing Dame along until the new tv deal in March of 2024 and then Jody will sell.

Cool. I thought that is where you stood but I wanted to make sure.

Yeah, it'd be unforgivable if they just upped and traded him.

I, too, didnt watch a playoff game either. Baseball!
