Dame's agent being there makes it nothing close to perfectly normal.I accidentally hit post earlier. What I meant to say is that it's a perfectly normal meeting with the team's franchise player to plan strategy, discuss players and proposals, and get Dame's input. Certainly that could result in a mutual decision to shop Dame. But to presume as some want to do that the purpose of the meeting is for Dame to give ultimatums or ask out strikes me as not based in real life.
Wow, that escalated quickly!Such bullshit. They literally just picked his replacement after shutting him down in order to tank. The Blazers could've drafted a player with more potential for team basketball(Amen) and not his replacement, but they wanted to appease the "bad basketball", "clout-chasing", "shiny things", "shitlib" crowd.
Crap, I quoted the wrong post. They are probably playing pool, drinking scotch, and smoking cigars. And laughing their asses off reading this thread.

They shut it down to have an asset to build a win-now team around Dame as Cronin made it sound like during the exit interview. Dame was confident in interviews the past couple months that the Blazers would pull something off. Then they draft his replacement.
I don't know how much I believe this so take it with a grain of salt or twenty, but it's possible that the Blazers front office believes Scoot is a better option for the team to build now and for the future than guys like Jaylen Brown. It seems truly possible that Portland never seriously pitched the 3rd pick for what was available and instead went after guys that weren't (Bam & Zion) so it could appear that they tried for Dame, solely because they think Scoot is THAT good. Not only does that feel over-optimistic, but it doesn't make sense for Dame and doesn't do right by him, and goes against everything Joe, Chauncey, and Dame said they wanted in their exit interviews (less youth, more veterans, and more size). The fact that his career here could end without Portland ever taking a swing because they found a shiny new PG feels so wrong to me. Dame leaving would be the front offices doing because this would push even the most loyal stars to their limits.
Dame shouldn’t have vented publicly. Now half the fan base is ready to move on. It’s Scoot’s team going forward whether he likes it or not. Only a matter of time before he is traded… might as well do it now to maximize opportunity for both parties.
We need two actual pt guards on this team and Dame is perfect to mentor Scoot through the duration of his career..when Scoot takes the lead..Scoot will extend Dame's career and save Dame's body from banging in the paint so much...it makes perfect sense...Ant needs to go period...he wasn't a great pt guard and not strong enough to play two guard and defend...Dame and Scoot will give you a lethal tag team of bench production and starters. I'm stoked to see it...Ant is too passive when Dame is on the court. Scoot is anything but passive.Such bullshit. They literally just picked his replacement after shutting him down in order to tank. Maybe they could repeat another season with Eubanks as a vital cog in shit basketball to show him how they really care.

This is one long meeting…
Clearing the books for the sale to Phil.Scoot is also the cheaper option.... which seems to be a trend.
Alright that’s not bad. Best of thread. They've been wearing out the ESPN trade machine, trying to find a deal to help the team.
A youth rebuild would likely mean being under the cap for the next three or four seasons and getting paid from teams that actually go into the lux tax to try and win titles.Scoot is also the cheaper option.... which seems to be a trend.
Problem with a lot on this board is they think they are Fkn GMs and know what is best.
Rebuild and put a team together for Dame can both be true at the same time.
They can't get logged in because of the couch GM overload from Blazer Two...They've been wearing out the ESPN trade machine, trying to find a deal to help the team.

Not by drafting Scoot.
He was fourth on my list. 1st. Amen 2nd. Miller 3rd. trade for star. 4. draft Scoot. Scoot is the most redundant if you are building around Dame.
This. I heard Cronin say two things after the draft: They picked BPA, regardless of fit; and he's not allowed to spend money to improve the team. What else can he do?Scoot is also the cheaper option.... which seems to be a trend.
I'm not sure i'm exactly right on how @Chris Craig feels here but i'm not 100 percent convinced we are keeping Scoot.
I missed the part where he said he's not allowed to spend money.This. I heard Cronin say two things after the draft: They picked BPA, regardless of fit; and he's not allowed to spend money to improve the team. What else can he do?

Does anybody besides me think that this meeting is more likely to be about Cronin’s upcoming moves than some big announcement about Dame? Joe has to make moves on Reddish’s and Thybulle’s offers, Grant’s new contract, a probably a couple of trades. His decisions on all of those things depend on whether Dame is going to buy in on the team for this season.
Me paraphrasing what I thought I heard. He gave multiple answers that I interpreted as him low-key saying it in different ways, without coming out and saying it, which of course he can't do.I missed the part where he said he's not allowed to spend money.
Joe would like for it to be about that and at this point maybe it's turned into that but Dame brought his agent. So at the very least Dame went into this meeting thinking that asking out was an option.Does anybody besides me think that this meeting is more likely to be about Cronin’s upcoming moves than some big announcement about Dame? We will see a trade or two. A few non current FA signings, Thybulle, and then finally Grant, as long as Dame buya in. I think he does...for now. He wants to believe.
The truth hurts. I love how my posts bother you so much LOLLMAO just when i thought your takes couldn't get any worse. Scoots team? Get a grip. You big mad.

That’s my point. If Dame was asking for a trade, it would be about a 10 minute meeting and a press announcement. This is about making moves that Dame will be comfortable staying for.
