So has the sentiment on Crabbe's contract changed? We're not looking to dump it anymore?

If we are Philly seems like the best fit. They have available cap space and they could use an outside shooter. He will not solve our defensive issues....at all. But he does have excellent offensive skills, and if you put the right forwards around him it could work. And it
would allow us to keep Plums.

But I don't see how Plumlee/Okafor would work. Then again Okafor is relatively cheap so maybe we can afford to carry both, with Okafor being a focal point of the second unit. I don't know.

I'm there with you. I like the player, and am fine with the contract.
I don't necessarily think it's an albatross of a contract, like so many people do. But given the context (Lillard/CJ/Turner), it just doesn't seem like a good match for us - too much money, too much duplication.

It'd work a hell of a lot better than Plumlee/Aminu, or Plumlee/Vonleh. It may not be ideal, but it sure beats our current options.

Both those combos are better defensively than Okafor/Plumlee, especially on the perimeter. I think if Okafor were to to be a blazer, he wouldn't really play together with Plumlee, but rather back him up. He could still see significant minutes, even as a backup.

That would be fine, too. But I'm really not concerned about the defense - we suck, and we can't really suck much more than we already do. Swapping out Aminu with Okafor would be a small step back on defense and a huge leap forward on offense - a net positive.

Is Okafor really that good offensively? 50% from the field, as a guy that only shoots around the rim, almost under 40% from everywhere except 3 feet... Idk.

I doubt Okafor would play huge minutes. You need 3 centers IMO. One will always get hurt.

Nurkic didn't play tonight either btw.

Nurkic, Okafor, Ezeli three way works on trade machine.

Philly gets couple draft picks, and gets closer to the cap floor while still saving money next season. Portland gets Nurkic. Denver gets Okafor for god knows what reason.

He has a very good post up game IMO. We can use that. I am not saying the guy is an all star but I like that he is a big with skills and is a space eater. (270+) We could use one of those.
7'5" wing and 9'2.5" standing......21 years old

I'm more encouraged that Olshey is looking at a center than the actual idea of Okafor.

Ive watched him play so I see the skills that are so appealing to some, but it doesn't seem to translate into positive production on either side of the floor.

Pels already offered Jrue Holiday for Okafor last week. Apparently deal is still on the table.

That's such a dreadful offer for Philadelphia. Holiday is UFA after this season and obviously they are not going anywhere this season.

FWIW, not sure who this Keith Smith kid is, or if he is old enough to shave?

Expectation remains that Okafor will be dealt before Monday's game. PHI does not want to have to sit him a second game due to trade talks.

Okafor, 21 years old, plenty of time to develop high O potential and improve his D. Third scoring option. Paint scoring threat to take pressure off of Dame & CJ. Two more seasons on a cheap rookie contract.

Not a perfect solution, has a few warts, but he does fill a few needs, at a cheap price.

If Okafor could have a Zach Randolph transformation, then maybe. But he comes across as kind of sulky and entitled.

Why has Woj stayed so silent? Hasn't even reported on Okafor sitting out. That seems like a big enough story to write something about.

Unless of course someone told him to sit on it.

Understand your concerns about Okafor. I am trying to find positives, just in case he does wear our colors.

Watching film, he has amazing O paint skills. It would take double teams to stop him in the paint. He has better handles than Crabbe. I can see why he was drafted #3.

the best thing about Okafor is that he's young. And it's not like he's not talented and athletic.

however, if he doesn't show improvement on defense...

Okafaor has plenty of offensive potential. Right now, however, he does nothing well. He's not an efficient scorer, his teams don't do better offensively when he's on the floor, he's a mediocre rebounder for a center and he's an awful defender.

Yes, he's young and he notionally has the skills to be good on offense, but he's starting from such a low baseline. Much, much lower than he was expected to as the #3 pick.

Okafor has some good game on both side of the floor but just like our players we have now they have to do it every night and they don't. I believe Okafor would help CJ and Dame to make it easier on them because you can't single cover Okafor because he is skill enough to score any center in this league.

We have to get either better D or better O from our front line - a "threat" from either end where we now have little to nothing - this team has to take some chances given the position salary wise we are now in. At least we know Okafor has a skill and has proved that and he's only 21. and on a rookie contract which is huge for POR. Additionally if we don't get Okafor where much current attention appears to be focused, then perhaps it gets even easier to get a guy like Nurkic for even cheaper?
