Merged: Crabbe Traded to Brk

Welcome to our community

Might as well get under the luxury tax now. Not looking good for easy Ed. Gah, it's like the Saturday night massacre out here.

The way I see it now is we took a chance on him last year hoping he would make a big leap but he didn't, so we end up being $3M behind for the next 7 years instead which is not really that much but still counts against the cap and might bite us on the arse at some point (though cap will likely hit $150M by the end of that period so it will be just 2%). I wish we got Dinwiddie or Kilpatrick back though.

So much for the contract being unmovable.

But now the guys that were saying we're gonna need to throw at least 2 first round pick to get rid of the contract are like, "We didn't get anything in return !!? WTF N.O. !?!"
Oh, this is great entertainment

part of me wishes it was ET, but all of me wishes it was Meyers.

as just about everyone has said, assuming this is part of something larger, but i REALLY hope it doesn't involve shitty incoming players.

Why do you think it was NO's choice?

I think the contracts are movable. I've said so all along. Even Meyers Leonard's.

I also predicted NO would get under the LT this season.

So much for all the fear of being "capped out!" NO even got us a trade exception.

Doesn't the luxury tax bill come at the end of the season? So as long as we're below that threshold come July 1, 2018, we should be OK. I'm sure we can find a take for Ed/Rouq/Noah by then.

This is a good point.

Seriously.

And cap hell, too.

So, we gotta get a shooter or two now or we gonna give Pat/Layman their shots? I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to that. Still hoping we can use that TPE and get someone not named Ryan Anderson.

Sorry but the more I think about it the more I think this is to make room for Anderson among other things. Anderson is to get Gordon.

Well given the situation we were in, seems like a successful move. AC was clearly never going to be a bigtime player, and with us so far over the cap before having to throw big money at Nurkic, this appears prudent.

Watch we will. We are going to trade our exception to Houston for Gordon straight up. Then facilitate a trade for Carmelo to Houston sending out Harkless, Meyers, and Pat to recieve Anderson.

We will throw big money at Nurk regardless. Paul will go over to Keep Nurk if he has to.

It will be interesting to see if he turns into a star for Brooklyn.

Was Tony Campbell a star in MIN? Because that's the only kind of "star" Crabbe has the potential to become. Campbell averaged 23.2 ppg his first ear in MIN, after averaging 6.2 ppg the previous year for LAL.

He was 14th in the league in scoring, right behind Clyde (23.3 ppg), but MIN won 22 games. POR won 59. Clyde was an all star, Campbell wasn't.

Somebody has to score on a crappy team. Maybe that will be Crabbe (but I doubt it, he's too passive to be a No. 1 option), but that still won't make him a star - just like it didn't make Tony Campbell a star.

I was thinking maybe we are now targeting a backup SG but technically Turner is a SG who can play SF and even PG.

I don't have a crystal ball, like you do.

My man BNM must be thrilled

Not yet. This is the first domino to fall. I reserve the right to be thrilled, or not, depending on who we end up out of this after all the dust has settled.

If it's Ryan Anderson, I won't be thrilled. He's marginally better than Crabbe when healthy, but he's older, injury prone and makes even more money that Crabbe.

If it's Eric Gordon, I will be moderately thrilled as he's a better player than Crabbe who makes less money, but he's also older and injury prone. He is a clear upgrade in talent and would give us a go to scorer off the bench. He would definitely take some pressure of C.J. when Dame is not in the game, something Crabbe could never do.

It may end up being someone else entirely. That's the thing about Olshey. He runs such a tight ship, you actually expect him to surprise you once or twice a year. It's kind of like getting a "surprise" birthday party every year on your birthday. You know something's coming, you just don't know what.
