So it's ok with you that someone would be heartless enough to use a recently deceased person as a device to promote their own hate filled agenda?

That says a lot.

I believe everyone should be held accountable for their own actions, they should police themselves to an extent.

But when someone repeatedly fails to do so, don't you think it's reasonable for someone else to step in and take action?

I can understand people not wanting to be censored or be punished for just typing something. But all bullshit aside, don't you guys think he went too far this time? This is a place where people from different walks of life and opinion can come on here and complain, debate, cheer, and argue. MIXUM comes on here with the sole intent to piss people off and stir shit up. I don't like seeing people get banned, but this had nothing to do with being a Blazer fan and complaining about a poor effort, this was a flat out attack.

That was one of the points I was trying to make. He would attack posters (or a group of posters) indirectly. Solely to incite a reaction, not a response. He doesn't want a debate.

I'm not exactly sure how using the term "HCP-ing it", was not a personal attack toward you. When you attempted to defend yourself, you were censored. Where was MARIS then?

2. He absolutely used Luke's death to strike a nerve with the community AND he wasn't banned. He was suspended.

1. I would be inclined to believe that, if not for the fact that when you try to have a debate with him, it always breaks down into petty name calling. Some people use statistics to back up their arguments, while MIXUM only uses derogatory remarks.

2. Death is a VERY sensitive subject for a lot of people, MIXUM knew that when he posted what he did. He wanted to see what kind of reaction that would get, just so happens this time he crossed the line in a lot of people's eyes, maybe not yours, but you're entitled to your opinion.

3. I honestly don't feel anything MIXUM has ever posted was insightful. There's a difference between burying your head in the sand to avoid the ugly truth that is the world we live in, and simply looking the other way to save yourself the trouble of having to listen to the incoherent ramblings of a smear artist.

Hi guys,

When I saw the thread title, I thought "WHAT? Basatards! You gotta be kidding me!" but then I opened the thread and went "oh. I get it."

It is no surprise that BGrantFan and MARIS jumped to his defense. The two of them, Mixum, and myself are the biggest pot stirrers in here. I don't include MM. He just states his own unique opinion, IMHO. The 4 of us are all guilty of riling shit up for the purpose of riling shit up. MARIS' act is Rudy/Sergio are the best players ever even though he knows they're not. BGrantfan's act is to be as abrasive as possible and then turn on a dime to be as defensive as possible (what? what did I do?) and then turn the thread into a discussion about himself. Mixum is the one I get a kick out of the most because he's so damn consistent. It makes me laugh. You all do know it's an act, right? He's entertaining himself, not participating in any serious discussion. How do I know all of this? Because I'm guilty of all of the above.

I think Mixum crossed a line tonight. Not just for using Luke's death in vain but also for cruelly attacking the players only 24 hours after they lost someone who had worked very closely with them, traveled with them, worked on their game with him, early in the morning, late at night. Brandon and LaMarcus were probably the closest to Luke since they're the only active players left from three seasons ago when Luke was actively working with the team. And Nate, our coach, was clearly very close to Luke. It is a cliché to say "let's win it for him!" after a death in sports but in reality, I don't think it's necessarily that easy. Everyone deals with a death in a different way and to demand that these human beings respond to Luke's death in a certain way is just mean, IMHO. Of course, as I said, Mixum's act is just that, an act. He would never say that stuff to those players' faces. He's not mad at them. He's in here to make some of us feel bad and to have fun while doing it. The problem is that there are people in this forum who knew Luke personally and more people who felt they knew him over the years. Now sure, there are people in here who aren't a wreck over this at all but we have to take care of those who are. We're a family in here. This isn't about free speech. Mixum hasn't been muzzled. There are a ton of other places on the Internet for him to express his mind. He'll be fine. He has Twitter and Facebook. I believe Denny Crane and Nate Bishop made the right move (a 7 day suspension after which, like Artest and Arenas before him, he will be free to participate again). There is grieving going on right now.

That's what I think.

Go Blazers. RIP Luke.

Bullshit suspension. MIXUM was the first to post about Luke's passing. We Blazer fans are pretty raw right now because Luke passed away. I think we all thought he would beat it. People react differently when confronted with reality.

I'm usually pretty tolerant of Mixum's shtick, but I thought he crossed the invisible line between controversial and inexcusable. A 7 day suspension doesn't seem totally uncalled for.

I guess I didn't see it as anything ban-worthy, at least as an isolated example.

That said, I can certainly understand how others would be irate over those posts, and I'm quite sure that those that knew Luke are a bit raw with emotion right now. So, after further consideration, I understand the suspension and agree with it, solely for the good of this community. There is nothing fun about death, and having many posters arguing with MIXUM over Maurice Lucas on the day after Luke's passing is not what I would want this forum to be about if I ran the place.
