Re: Oden out 2-4 weeks

If it's REALLY only 2-4 weeks?

I'm pleased as punch. I had thought it was going to be much, much worse.

I agree about being happy. I didn't have any expectations, but the fever pitch of panic on this board caused me to contemplate the worst. I'll happily settle for this.

Re: Oden out 2-4 weeks

This blows DONKEY balls. So in 4 weeks, we're going to be nervous for him to come back. I hate this game.

Re: Oden out 2-4 weeks

I've been goddamn patient enough the last year, and they have us wait even longer. BS.

Re: Official Oden Prognosis Thread

Damn, that sucks. I was hoping for a week. There goes the stupid NBA's plan to match Oden up with all the premier bigs. It's partially their fault. If we didn't play the Lakers last night, Fisher and Bynum wouldn't have had the chance to gang up and (inadvertantly) injure Oden.

What is the treatment of an avulsion fracture?
Most often, an avulsion fracture is treated as a soft-tissue injury. For example, if a patient has an avulsion fracture of the hamstrings attachment on the pelvis (an ischial tuberosity avulsion), it can be treated in a similar manner to a hamstring tear. Only in avulsion fractures where the bone is pulled more than several centimeters from its normal position does surgery need to be considered. Usually these injuries can be treated without surgery.

Another example commonly seen is a patient with an ankle sprain. The ankle ligaments that were damaged often pull off a small piece of bone from its attachment site. Again, these injuries are treated as an ankle sprain, as the small piece of bone really does not affect the treatment decisions or outcome of the patient.

one possibility

gotta agree w/ Crapzano on this one... we need to get used to the idea of Oden not being the long term savior.

avulsion means the tendon was pulled away from the bone. I'm sure KP will clear things up.

I hate that everyone wants to give up on Greg...fuck that shit.

Im sorry but there is no way 2-3 weeks for a 7 footer playing in the NBA...4 if he is lucky IMO

With all the therapy he'll be getting and is probably getting right now, I would expect him to be back sooner than later.

there have been plenty of injuries to 7 footers in the nba that have lasted 2-3 weeks or less.

He's not. He's part of the big 3. Canzano said to take him out of that mix.

I think I already have, at least for the immediate future... I mean has he been injury free for any extended period of time since hi school?

KP says:

-mid-lateral sprian (sprained ankle)

-swelling has already gone down

-he will be back and productive this year

Was it where bone ripped off? Regardless of if they treat it just like an ankle sprain it is something more than that evidently

"You're defined by your tough times"....very true.
