What an idiot.

"Be the team in waiting". AKA, don't take a risk to contend, sit on mediocre players, wait for until C.J. and Dame are near the end of their primes, and hope that the young players we have acquire along the way give us a two-year window of competing.

Most likely scenario from that? We are a 3rd-4th seed level team that cant make the WCF because there's another superteam that formed from free agent acquisitions or something like that.

Dwight wants us to not take a risk to get really good, instead wants us to stay mediocre because GSW will "fade". Guess what Dwight, somebody will replace GSW, and do we then wait longer because it's too risky to try to compete with them? FFS.

I will throw one argument against trading for PG13...

Curry > Lillard
Thompson > McCollum
Durant > George
Green = Nutkic.... Maybe

Disagree on CJ and Klay. One is an elite shooter and another is an elite scorer, CJ can get his own shot..Klay, not so much. He isn't some elite ball handling wizard.

I dont think Curry has much of an edge. Curry and Thompson have a very slight edge over Lillard and McCollum. Durant has a slight edge over George. Nurkic is better than Green or anyone else they got. We'd have to get some good veterans via free agency (MLE, BAE) or trade, but I think we could build a better bench than theirs. I think we could compete with them, and beat them in a series in 1 of 3 years (if George stays). That would mean a finals trip. I'd take that.

I agree with that as long as we are only talking about the offensive side of the ball.

Are we forgetting that benches matter? I'm not really that impressed by anyone on Golden State's bench. Their starting 5 would still get the nod over ours though, even with PG13. If we added George though, we could possibly get a couple of ring chasing vets as well.

If the Blazers somehow did get George, the veterans willing to come on cheap deals wouldn't come this year but next year after the Blazers had proven that they were legit contenders. They would have to get to the WCF and take the Warriors to at least 6 games for that to happen IMO.

Ewwww

"In the meantime, there’s something else you should know about Giles:He had a 27-inch vertical leap at the NBA draft combine, which is the exact same vertical I had when I tested myself three weeks ago. If you find yourself saying, “Who cares what your vertical is? You’re some washed-up writer I’ve never heard of,” allow me to offer this response: exactly."

Lol

"As someone who makes a living almost exclusively from following college basketball, I’ll be the first to say that Anigbogu would probably be at least the seventh name out of my mouth if you asked me to name the guys from UCLA’s 2016–17 roster. I know he’s got an old-school game with a killer skyhook that he can hit from 15 feet out, and I remember that in January the biggest story in college basketball was Anigbogu punching TJ Leaf during a Bruins practice. But I also remember how I completely made up both of those Anigbogu facts and how some people who religiously follow college basketball just nodded as they read them because even they don’t remember anything about Anigbogu’s college career."

Yeah, that was pretty concerning. I'd stay away from Giles.

Think of Ben Wallace. But, not nearly as good.

You can't just say that because some of their individual players are better that we still wouldn't contend with them. You just need good enough players to be able to challenge them and hope that your players outplay theirs (shocking I know). Just breaking down the individual talents would mean that Cleveland wouldn't have won it last year and OKC definitely wouldn't have been up 3-1 the series before.

Just got to get players to put you in the same conversation and then hope that enough of your guys outperform their guys.

I think it'll return somewhat. Giles isn't confident without a brace yet and the combine was his first time not wearing one since before his most recent ACL injury.

I don't think he's zapped.

I'm still on the Giles train I don't give a fuck wildcard bitches

Yeah it's bullshit. You have dame, CJ. and Nurk, what the FUCK are you waiting for? The window starts next season and ends in about 4 years.

3 surgeries in 4 years.

He's.

Not.

That.

Cold.

You jumped the shark with the "killer skyhook that he can hit from 15 feet out"... :biglaugh:

Here is Ringer's mock draft, with concise summaries (but also comprehensive analysis if you click on that little arrow) on all top 60. Their mock quite a bit different rankings than Draft Express; I like that they have Tyler Lydon 2nd round while DE has him #26.
