Holy shit! I don't fall in love with highlights but whoaaaaa...

His high, quick release on his pull up jumper (and the dunks) reminded me of Travis Outlaw, but he did show the ability to take more than one dribble without losing the ball, something TO never managed to perfect.

However, I do have to question the level of competition. On most of those dunks and follow slams nobody even offered the tiniest bit of resistance. No attempt to play defense or box out. Just let the big guy dunk and get out of the way.

The rest of his team looks pretty much like a Sunday night rec league team at The Hoop in Beaverton, except for No. 3. He looks like the 5'5" bald guy who gets picked last in an over 45 church league pick up game.

Really? A big guy who can dunk. Didn't see any shooting or defense highlights. His team was also losing most every game in the highlights.

He might be great, but I couldn't tell from a dunk video.... but, yes, he can get up, and is aggressive doing so.

Did you even watch it? or just the first 30secs? dude was hitting jumpers from all over showed a little handle and a smooth repeatable jump shot. Sour puss over here watching 5 secs of video ready to say he's completely one dimensional lol

You didn't watch all the video then. They sold all sorts of highlights of him shooting threes, squaring up, passing etc. They showed defensive highlights too...

Were you watching the same video as we were?

Ha, I didn't. I double clicked and it went to youtube - different video, lol.

Fumbling the ball is a completely different story than having no/bad hands. Bad hands mean you can't catch it when it's thrown to you. Fumbling the ball usually means you're nervous. Vonleh doesn't have bad hands at all. He's just young, a little nervous, and wants to do well. I also think that you're 100% wrong about vonleh. In my opinion he has the biggest upside of anyone on the team.

There's a young man named Jusuf Nurkic I think you should look him up

Played in the same league as Nurkić. :dunno:

Played in the same league as Nurkić. :dunno:

At what age? Nurkic is only 8 months older than Bolden and has spent the last three years in the NBA. He would have been a teenager at the time and didn't start playing basketball until the age of 14. Nurk would have been raw as fuck back then. It made sense for him to start out against lower level competition.

Bolden has been playing his whole life (his dad is a former professional basketball player) who is a more experienced, more polished player. He should really be playing against tougher competition at this age.

Bolden does look good on tape. This year is going to be fascinating. I think between picks 10 and 45 there are going to be several all-stars picked. Just now clear on which ones they are. At 15, 20 and 26 we should be in a great place to have a good chance at one or two of them.

I'm not comparing him vs. Nurk. What I'm saying is they both played in the same league against the same types of players.

Just because I was curious where Ike sits relative to Vonleh too (being soooooo young)

Whiteside shoeless 6'10.5" weight 227lbs wing 7'7" reach 9'5.0" max vert 31.5" FT% 59% TO/40 2.9 Reb/40 13.6 Blk/40 8.2
Drummond shoeless 6'9.7" weight 279lbs wing 7'6.3" reach 9'1.5" max vert 33.5" FT% 30% TO/40 2.2 Reb/40 10.6 Blk/40 3.8
Deandre Jordon: shoeless 6'9.5" weight 250lbs wing 7'6" reach 9'5.5" max vert 30.5" FT% 44% TO/40 3.2 Reb/40 11.9 Blk/40 2.5
Ike Anigbogu: shoeless 6'8.5" weight 252lbs wing 7'6.3" reach 9'2.5" max vert 32.5" FT 53% TO/40 2.5 Reb/40 12.4 Blk/40 3.7
Noah Vonleh shoeless 6'8.0" weight 247 wing 7'4.5 reach 9.0" max vert 37" FT 72% TO/40 3.2 Reb/40 13.6 Blk/40 2.1

I really doubt Minnesota will take Markkanen. A big shooter that does not play any defense is not really something they need.

I don't think New York will think 'we can land our 2nd option this year but feck it, let Portland land him so we can do it next year'. I also doubt the league rates Crabbe so high to think he can ever become a 2nd option at a successful team.
I think they would get their 2nd option in free agency or trade. If they upgrade the team with better, younger players while saving a little bit of money, that's a good thing. In 2 years, Isaac+Porzingas won't mean shit if they still have Noah, Lee, etc.

Will see if Olshey is interested if he brings him in for workout. I mean 26 we should maybe shoot for someone like Bolden. He looks like on the offense side with the full package.

I think people are trying to fix everything in one off-season. We have 3 years to fix the luxury tax issue before we worry about the larger ramifications. No matter what the Blazers do this season the Warriors are still the mountain to climb. Portland is the youngest team, has good momentum. Sure make little tweaks, but there's no need to panic and make medium sized moves they either need to make huge moves or be patient, it's not letting the cake bake, it's also not tossing the cake out the window for a stale pop-tart.

FYI

Deandre Jordon: shoeless 6'9.5" weight 250lbs wing 7'6" reach 9'5.5" max vert 30.5" FT% 44% TO/40 3.2
Ike Anigbogu: shoeless 6'8.5" weight 252lbs wing 7'6.25" reach 9'2.5" max vert 32.5" FT 53% TO/40 2.5
53% free throw shooter?

Pass

damn bolden look like a all-star player that we need. now i want us to get justin patton, justin jackson, and bolden.

Yeah, I would have passed on Shaq and Olajuwan too since they were similarly poor free throw shooters as freshmen. Probably no chance he will get any better given he's already 18.
Sorry, I temporarily confused OG's knees with Giles'.

Is he really Shaq/Olajuwan level?

Highly unlikely he is, but I could live with a freshman who shoots 54% and shows good mechanics in a workout. Lot's of guys shoot low % when they are younger. He honestly looks to me a lot like less tested version of Deandre Jordan, but with a better outside shot and shot blocking skills. Their measurements are pretty close.

actually would you guys do #15 and #20 for #10 pick then select zach collins. then trade crabbe, aminu, #26 for richaun holmes, covington, #36 and #39 from the 76ers. then with those picks we can get sindarius thornwell and jonah bolden.
damian/turner/napier
cj/thornwell
harkless/covington
vonleh/holmes/bolden
nurkic/davis/leonard

Bolden may not be playing against great competition but some of what he does, very few people can do against any level of competition.

OK, all you sudden Bolden pundits, assuming both players are available, who would you take, and why: Jordan Bell or Jonah Bolden?

Draft Express has Bell going 33 and Bolden going 48, but that doesn't really mean much. Once you hit the second round, it's pretty much a crap shoot. People will rate different prospects higher or lower depending on what they value in a second round pick (NBA readiness vs. potential). Most teams are just looking for a solid role player not a future star in the second round.

I think Bell has a good chance of being a solid bench contributor. Bolden has a smaller chance to make more of an impact.....maybe even as a starter.

Bigger risk....of a bigger reward. In the 2nd round, swing for the fences.

he does look really good "on tape", he seems very light on his feet and moves very well, he's 6'10 with a 7'4 wingspan and looks to be a good 3 pt shooter already. In cases like this the 24mil Q is whether he might translate to the NBA? I'd really like POR to work him out, gotta say out of all the PF types he looks the best to me "on tape"

both? bring them in and let them workout against each other

If either of their agent let's them do that they deserve to be fired
they are now possibly lower late first, earlier 2nd rd picks, IMO there is lot of incentive to move up rather that sit around as it equals more $$$ and they aren't close to "locks" like the top 5 or 10 are

Length and bulk - we'd have the biggest PF/C combo with Nurk/Ike since Sheed and Sabonis.

My issue is why was Bolden so anemic at UCLA during the 15/16 season? He was a 20yr old freshman & his advance numbers were poor.
Bell's numbers were much better as a 19yr old freshman & have improved since then.
