He's going to start again tonight. Nate says "This is his time to shine." And don't forget what Dean Demopolous said when asked about our Big 3 during the offseason. He said we actually have a "Big 4" including Travis Outlaw. He won so many games for us last season. There's no way we win 13 in a row without him last year. The knock on him in Tuesday's game was that he took the stars out of their game early on but that's ridiculous. He only took 2 shots in the first quarter. He's not the blackhole people think. But he is a guy we can go to for scores when nothing else is working.

Go Travis!!!

Go Blazers

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

I know what Travis is, and I appreciate it for what he is paid. He's a bargain at this point.

The problem is he takes a shot every time he touches the ball, we will never see if anything is working because he doesnt know how anything works.

Completely false. I have to disregard your posts from this point forward.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Completely false. Did you even read my original post, Nate? He only took two shots in the first quarter on Tuesday night. He let the game come to him and still led us in scoring.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

I'm not saying TO is bad, I'm just saying he is not a starter! And he is a healthy Martell Webster away from being third string, getting minutes behind Batum.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

I'll tell you what, Webs' extension and the way Batum is playing tonight against SA doesn't look good for Trout.

Agreed. Also, TO being 1-5 tonight is not helping. Every time he touches the ball he tries to score.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Outlaw is struggling so far, yes, but really everyone is, from a shooting standpoint. We need to start making shots.

Look good in which way? Travis will get another decent contract in the NBA. He'll be fine. The question is, how much is he worth to the Blazers? Outlaw is not a bust, and considering where he was drafted, he is a steal on many nights at his contract.

Nobody is questioning TO about being a bust, no one here thinks that. Also, everyone would agree his contract is a steal.

But the question you posted is indeed the correct question: How much is he worth to the Blazers? His worth is diminishing to the Blazers with every player we add that has more talent and upside than him, however his value might be a lot higher to another team, and I am one of those that thinks if you can get more for something than what it's worth you do it.

Pretty classic seeing someone degrade Travis with ridiculous BS in a Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread... on the Blazer Board... and that someone being a Blazer fan.

I like Trav  Last year and today he's more productive then Martell. Hopefully Batum is better then both.

Who degraded him?

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

travis is great for what he is...though anyone who says he doesn't have any black hole to him is kidding themselves. i think he has ALOT of value, just on someone else's team as he's packaged with Raef at the deadline.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

If you're watching the game, you know that he has not been a black hole tonight. He has passed the ball about 3 times as much as he has shot it. Probably even more that that. In fact, he got to the line because he passed to LMA and then cut.

Travis is playing not badly tonight. All within the flow of the game. Watch what he does in the 4th.

Doesn't matter. The template is set, and and the meme remains the same.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Batum did his part. Get him out of the game now.

Of course I was referring to you. Since when has Martell ever had a better season then him? It sure didn't happen last season or ever. Yet you're on this of all threads projecting TO 3rd string behind MW and Batum this season when Martell is going to be out of shape coming off a broken foot and saying ridiculous stuff like Outlaw shoots every time he touches the ball.

Geez if you're going to throw chum in the water, expect someone to take a bite

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

I actually think that Travis is looking better this year than last year despite the fact that he is not shooting the ball great (yet). His handle and body control dribbling seems to be 5 times better than it was last year.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

I thought he was pretty good tonight, he took the ball to the hoop more than he usually does. Bit surprised to see he was 2-9, but he still filled the box score defensively

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Travis is my favorite player and he always starts the season slow. He still needs to get comfortable playing the 3 and with the first unit if Nate leaves him there. I'm sure he'll be playing better in a couple weeks. He's a clutch player and I'm most comfortable with he and Rudy at the line in game situations. That said, I'd rather have Travis off the bench and Batum starting. We need more energy with that first unit. If we could combine the skills of Sergio and Bayless we'd have the perfect point.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Batum was a breath of fresh air tonight..........I think that Pritchard is going to have to make something happen near the trade deadline. I know we're only 2 games into the season, but I think Batum might be just what the doctor ordered for this team. 7'4" wingspan......are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! Kid is going to be good.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Travis fits the whole "versitile" theme the Blazers have in that he plays multiple postions. We already saw tonight that Travis may be needed at PF again this year.

I thought Nate tried a interesting defenisve lineup on the last set play by SA. He had Roy, Outlaw, Batum, Aldridge and Joel. And soon as Pop saw that he called time out, went right to Parker who easily drew the foul on Roy (Parker is too quick for any those players). So it didn't work, but interesting long defensive team.

Point being, Travis can be used in a lot of different senarios.

Being a tad bit sensitive aren't we?

By that standard Joel Przybilla has been more productive than Greg Oden, what's your point? Martell will and forever look like a better starter than Outlaw, that's just the way it is. I like Travis but to say he's a good fit with this ball club is a stretch. Martell produced more at a much younger age than Travis and would probably produce more now if he had no conscience to shoot everytime he touched the ball.

how so? I think the Travis bashing is classic Blazer fans turning on their own. It happens every year.

Travis shot the ball 9 times last night in 31 minutes... the same amount of shots that Frye and Batum took in far less minutes. He was a willing passer throughout the night plus he got to the line a lot and converted. Dude also had 3 steals and a block, the Blazers beat the big bad Spurs and yet some Blazer fans are sniping at their own.... classic.

Looks aside, unfortunately Martell has largely flatlined production wise on a per minute basis since his rookie season. While we would all like to see him take giant steps forward, it sure hasn't happened yet. Every off season we get glowing reports about how great he looks, then the season starts and he's the same inconsistent player he was before. The struggles he's had with his confidence/the yips are a concern as those are tough to shake.

If you look at PER stats (which attempt to gauge productivity per minute), Martell has never been as productive as Travis at any age. Until MW actually does start producing at a higher rate the sort of speculation you're engaged in is only wishful thinking. If I'm going to dream it's going to be with a player thats not already had a few seasons establishing what we should expect. At 19, Batum has already shown more defensive ability on the wing then either of the two 3s ahead of him on the depth chart.

Me likey

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Travis did a much better job last night. I was very happy with how he fit in with the starters. Most of his shots were within the flow of the game. It did really help to be going up against a team with weakened frontcourt. This allowed Travis to play more 4 than he normally gets to. I still prefer him with the second unit, but if he can play this well with the starters, we'll be just fine.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Love outlaw. I wish he would just attack the basket with reckless abandon more.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Great frickin assist while sitting on the court. Awesome play. Who says he's a black hole?

Batum will be a better starter. Travis is best coming off the bench, imo.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

he's playing well tonight though, he also had a nice drive, didn't he? And that play where Rudy passed it to him and he just missed the lay up.
As long as he takes it to the hoop, I love his game.

(Frye's the new scapegoat, for those who were curious :p)
