Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Travis played well tonight. It warmed my heart to see a sequence in the 2nd quarter (iirc) where PHX put up a shot and Ike, Joel and Travis were bouncing off each other for the rebound.

Let's look at what he did that I really liked.

1) He attacked the boards.
2) He attacked the rim (had that nice finger roll)
3) He spotted up in the corners, took it when open (doesn't matter much to me if it goes in or not, that's a good shot for he and Rudy)
4) When needed, he took that one-dribble jumpshot. And it was going in tonight (when it's not, there are better ways to get points, but ok for tonight)

If Travis brought this every night, you would hear much less from me about trades, fit, etc. Good game by him tonight.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

Some posters are complaining about Outlaw's performance tonight in another thread. It is absurd.

Travis was great tonight, no crazy ass shots, great hustle on the boards, took it inside with some authority.

The kind of game I've been waiting for awhile to see him have.:clap::clap::cheers:

Bump...just keepin it real :devilwink:

-22 with 4 TO

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

16 points on 7-13 shooting.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

There is something that just isn't right with Travis this year. I don't know what it is, but I can't put my finger on it. He was not this much of a liability on defense last year. For some reason, Travis can not seem to stick with his man. His rebounding is just as good thsi year, and he has made big plays this year as well...but I really think he is thinking to much out there. He is worried he is shooting too much and it is affecting his game. Nate really needs to sit him down and tell him to just ball..jmo

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

outlaw is my favorite blazers always has been..When he came to us it was like a ray of hope. He was young and his dad is a cop so you know he would end up a nice good ol boy unlike the trouble makers we had to cheer for before.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread

16 points on 7-13 shooting.

Sums up a lot about TO. You look at the box score and it's ok...16pts on 7-13 shooting. Then you start looking a bit deeper. 4 turnovers out of the team's 13. Meh...sometimes there are bad days or the ball's slippery. No assists. Well, the team wasn't making a lot of shots, so he was probably passing to teammates who were missing...not like LMA, who had 5 assists. Speaking of which, how many of our 44 misses (forget the opponents') did he corral in 30 minutes? None. Zero. Nada. Why is that? Was it because he was sprinting out to play great D on his man leaking? Well, seeing as how Posey (the man he was "guarding" most of the game, from what I saw) got 9 of those 44 misses, maybe Travis could've gotten, you know, one? Speaking of defense on his man, Posey only was 3-7 from 3. But that wasn't for lack of trying, as he was getting pretty open looks. I'm usually not a big +/- guy over a single-game, b/c I think it's a small sample size. But if you WERE one of those people, you'd see that Travis' -22 was not really that good, and the next worse (Bayless) was @ -11.

Quick aside: do you think perhaps we could identify really good 3 point shooters (like Posey, Stojakovic, Rashard Lewis, Turkoglu, Mike Miller, McGrady, Nash, etc.) before the games (like in scouting reports, team briefs pre-game, etc) and see what it's like not to help off of those men on PGs driving down the lane? Am I missing something here? Back to regularly scheduled b!tching.

Last game he played pretty well, by attacking the rim, getting rebounds, dunks, easy shots. Enough to make most not want to get rid of him for making stupid mistakes. Today he had one shot inside of 10 feet (out of 13). He had 2 inside of 16 feet. When we were attempting to come back in the 4th, even the Mikes were talking about how he (as supposedly some kind of "go-to, Mr. 4th Quarter Scorer") would amble down the court and just sit in the corner.

But he was 7-13. His 4th game this year above 50% FG% (out of 32)

Travis= CLUTCH

Eat it, haters!!!

Add that shot to this:

Why do you guys wanna get rid of a guy who can hit the pressure shots like that? He's a valuable commodity. Hang on to him!

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

Do you have a YouTube montage of all the missed boxouts?

Travis played a big part in their 2nd chance points and Prince going nuts on us tonight.

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

I'm very happy that we won but if Travis had missed that shot I would have been PISSED. It wasn't a very good shot, but he has a knack for making ridiculous shots like that.

Anyways, we won!

Travis is a clutch player who make game winning shots under pressure. Love it! It's almost like you wished we lost so that Travis could be blamed. Sorry! You lose! Blazers win!

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

In the last two seasons, who in the entire league has hit as many game winning and game tying shots as Travis Outlaw? Seriously!

Wow. You seriously need to switch to Decaf... or find another acting gig. You are losing your mind.

Zach Randolph made many game winning plays. Should the Blazers have kept him and traded LaMarcus?

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

I had composed the Travis Outlaw Theorem...I think on here. Its a mathematical formula of when you should play him in the game.....gotta look for it.

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

TO had a total of THREE rebounds in about 34 minutes of play. I'm glad he hit two shots down the stretch, but he's the main reason we were playing from behind all night.

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

Outlaw is an excellent player in the final minutes of games. Unfortunately, he is often near invisible the rest of the game. I would not mind keeping him, but he is far down on my list of blazer players. Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Rudy, Blake, Przybilla are all more important to the Blazers today. And I think that Batum, Bayless and perhaps Webster are all more important to the future, along with a repeat of several of the players listed earlier.

The question is - Does a stellar play at the end of a game make up for boneheaded plays the rest of the game?

Travis Outlaw Theorm!

Just like the Shaq Effect!

Re: Travis= CLUTCH

For every good play Travis makes, he also compounds it with two bad ones.

I still want him traded.

i have to go with no on this one. i go back to the "Adam Morrison Lack of D" theroy. yes he'll fill it up on the offensive end and come up with crazy plays but his bonehead plays put us in that position more than the gamewinners he hits.

K-O-B-E

He's makes those about once a week.

Re: Travis Outlaw Fan Club Thread
