Disagree about Vucevic....as I said...the author likes the Finnish guy...whoever the Blazers have on their board could be anyone.

Riv... Vucevic can't even guard Centers. Let alone Power Forwards.

Perhaps that might be a tad overstated. He's actually got the best defensive metrics on his (very bad) team.

Rip City mornings talking today about what we were discussing Friday.

I'd cut Cleveland out & take PG for Portland.
My question to Maroney as well.

Dude on the radio thinks that George would bolt Portland after 1 year, but would re-sign in Cleveland, so it makes no sense for the Blazers to try to trade for George.

Yeah no kidding. We are giving up everything to the Pacers, why wouldn't we take the better player? Unless their reasoning is KLove would stay in Portland and PG would not.

That's precisely it. Radio guy thinks the Blazers are a premiere power forward away from being a contender, and says George will leave for LA next summer unless he's on a super-team with Lebron/Kyrie.

Honestly, we are not going to get a player better than Kevin Love with our picks, most likely, and if it comes in pair with dumping Crabbe's contract, it's not a bad deal for us. I believe Cleveland could add someone like Shumpert to the deal (they won't need him if they get Wade, and there's a good chance they will).

Shumpert will get over 10 mil per for the next 2 seasons. Not sure adding him to the package is a plus.

I'd love Love. Dame/CJ/Turner/Love/Nurkic the passing from the bigs... i'd have to change my pants at halftime of every game.

The offense would be fun to watch. But seeing the other team put Lillard's and Love's men into a pick-and-roll (or McCollum's and Love's) would be a nightmare. If the Blazers want to contend for a title, they need to shoot the moon for two-way players (either by making a risky trade for George or just trying to draft one or two). If we're comfortable saying that the Warriors will win the next few and we just want the Blazers to be entertaining and win a decent number of regular season games, trading for Love would achieve that.

Love makes sense only if......

1. We are loaded with perimeter defenders

2. His relationship with Klay Thompson makes Portland a destination for him once he leaves GS, or a spot he would re-sign if traded here.

Yeah he is not the best perimeter defender for a PF. It is tough to find someone like Green who can do both........ battle down low and cover the perimeter. I think we would be more than just fine with Vonleh at PF if we had an explosive scorer like Paul George at SF. But Harkless and Noah doesn't quite cut it together. One of them needs to be really good on offense.

Some people are saying to trade the three picks, Crabbe, and Leonard for a one-year rental of PG13. Go "all in" to challenge the Warriors and hope that George likes what he sees here in Portland and re-signs.

I can't say I disagree. I am tired of "rebuilding". I want the team to really compete. To have a chance.

Even with George, would we be good enough to beat GSW?

This. The real reason why the Cavs lost is because you can't have Love and Korver on the floor at the same time. I saw many possessions where Love ended up on Curry and Korver on Durant.

Bottom line:

We need Defense, not offense. Getting PG gets us both.

If we somehow get PG, Luc Richard Mbah A Moute is the guy I'd target with the TPMLE.

Well, in that case, let Cleveland give more in this deal, and Portland less.
