Meyers Leonard hurts

Here's a question; could we theoretically trade Ezeli before free agency begins? I think there is a rule you can't trade guys with expiring/team options but I'm not sure. If we can, we should hold onto him through the draft just in case we need his contract to match salaries. If not, we may as well just cut him now.

Note that players with ending contracts (including players whose contracts might end due to an option or ETO) cannot be traded after the trade deadline (players whose contracts are not ending can be traded after the last day of the team's season and before July 1

Ezeli's contract has $1 mil guaranteed fully if not waived on or before 6/30/17. Since the Blazers could waive him and not have any salary hit for next year, I think he can't be traded.

Ok well then there's our answer. He's not even with the team anymore. Easy decision, if we're actually looking to bring someone else in. Another question; would Alexander be playoff eligible

As far as signing a player goes, the Blazers are only a little over $400K short of the luxury tax threshold. Even a one-year vet minimum would put the team into Luxury territory. I doubt that NO would want to that when even the best scenario is probably a one and done playoff appearance.

I actually think that's incorrect, because it's not an ETO; it's a partial guarantee. Even if he's cut, he's still being paid a million next year, which means he actually is tradeable once the season ends. That fact, I believe is one of the reasons that I think he's unlikely to be waived if Neil wants to bring someone in, because that partial guarantee might be attractive to a team looking to dump salary (as though we really need to be taking more salary on...)

Hmm. It says the the one million is only guaranteed if he's not waived before the end of June. How is that a partial guarantee?

I think if you claim a player off waivers the date was March 1.
But I think we can add a D league players until April 14th.

Even if Cliff was added the chances of him playing are small. It would only be if Noah or Nurk got hurt or both got into foul trouble.
We need the depth

Probably the only reason we haven't added anyone. We should've added depth after Davis went down, nevermind now.

I think you're misreading the contract details.

The $1M is guaranteed regardless; the remainder of the contract is guaranteed if not waived before the end of June.

You're right. I did misread that and that changes things 180 degrees. The Blazers could be able to trade him in the period between the end of this season and July 1.

“I can’t really explode to get rebounds, really,’’ Leonard said. “I’m just trying to hide it, trying my best not to let it show.’’

So, has he had this for 5 seasons?

I hope he recovers and can play basketball again to his full potential in Angola's National 3rd Tier Social League, he truly deserves his shot at a permanent starting position, somewhere.

After really thinking about it, this whole thing seems pretty fishy. Like a grab for sympathy/excuses on Leonard's part, and easy clicks for Quick. Like the crap he used to write. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I just wouldn't expect that type of article to come out of CSNNW. Has anyone asked the team if he's gonna retire now?.... Lol

Hope he gets better quickly. It's good to know that this has contributed to his total ineffectiveness, unfortunately now all his opponents know it as well.

When he's at his best, he's not horrible.... he's not currently at his best. He shouldn't play. Dump Quarterman, sign Cliff, play Cliff, stay under the luxury tax. Cliff knows our system... probably better than Nurk. Pray that Nurk doesn't get injured. Make playoffs, then we get back to our offseason routine (GM prognostication).

Why would adding frontcourt depth to offset injury losses be a mistake? If 60% of our legitimate bigs are hurt, it only makes sense to bring in another one. so as to avoid overburdening the healthy ones.
What I wrote it would be a mistake if Neil didn't bring another big in. But afraid due to we are right at the LT with around 13 games reminding I don't see him signing anyone that my opinion.

How the hell is it even possible to play with 2 herniated disks. Seems like the pain would be far too excruciating. He's not helping us anyway, but he leaves a hole. We will just have to play small ball...nurk and Noah at center Aminu and Hark at Pf...

Maybe some real small ball with Aminu and Hark at the 4-5 for a small stretch....hasnt really paid off for us in earlier attempts but who knows

I hurt watching him play. Are you kidding me? Meyers sucks when healthy, why the hell is he playing with herniated disks in his back? Play Aminu and Vonleh at center.
