Because apparently Phoenix wants him. If that gets Ayton to Portland, then it could swing the thing, as crazy as that sounds.
How optimistic are you that we can get 3 1sts in a package with Ayton? I’m holding out hope it’s 3 1sts, but I’m bracing myself for news to break of only 2 1sts…

But none of that makes it likely Dame goes to Miami as you listed?

Yes I can see the Pacers and Suns being in there, regardless of where Dame goes.

Exactly. He is a piece the Suns want and due to his smaller salary and the Pacers being one of the few teams that has a little cap room (~$7M), they can help facilitate a trade and add some depth which they need.
My comment was questioning why Bones had Miami in the Phx/Ind hypothetical. I can buy Phx wants McConnell, but there's no reason they would want Miami instead of Toronto /Chicago... right?

Based on the reports I have heard, Phoenix doesn’t care who we bring in. They want Nurk and they want to trade Ayton.

Correct. Miami could be left out of it although for Portland, I think they would like at least the young players from Miami along with the Draft picks even though those aren't great either. It seems easier to move around pieces if a 3rd team is involved. Charlotte could be one that if they could get out from Hayward's contract, might through in a pick.

To me, it's that Miami would be able to bring Hield in along with Dame, whereas I don't think Toronto can. I don't think Phoenix can take Hield, and I doubt Portland wants him. Is there a good POR/TOR/PHX/IND deal that gets Hield out of Indiana?

Portland flat out refusing to deal with Miami. I LOVE IT

“Portland is refusing to talk to Miami,” Haynes said. “Miami understands that they don’t have the assets, but they wanna know, hey, Portland, we’ll involve a third or a fourth team, but communicate with us and let us know what you are looking for.”

Refusing? From Dame's mouth to Haynes' ears. Multiple other reporters NOT in Dame's hip pocket have said Miami just hasn't called and don't seem that urgent to do so.

Regardless of whom is right, I like it. I like it that Heat fans are losing their shit. And if Cronin is playing Chess with Riley and winning, then i like it eve better.

Now Dame's cousin is tweeting cryptic emojis like Dame to Miami is done.

If Hield goes to Miami what goes back to Indy, Duncan Robinson? Can't see Indy wanting that. If not then Blazers have to take Robinson to match salary?

Just doesn't make any sense that Heat likely don't have enough to trade for Lillard straight up, but they're going to have enough for BOTH Lillard and Hield...

I assume Herro would go to Indy. For Dame and Hield, Miami would have to empty their coffers completely.

For picks instead could have Indy pick go to Miami for 2025/26 when Miami pick conveys to OKC. Then Miami can send 4 unprotected picks to PDX in 2024 2026 2028 2030 and forget the swaps. Might be simpler than asking OKC to do anything or to do swaps.

Cautiously optimistic. Anything less and I'll be disappointed. And two of the firsts should be unprotected Miami picks in 2028 & 2030.

Appreciate it. I suppose that actually seems more realistic than I had thought;

why the hell would Indiana give up a pick??

I actually think this one makes plenty of sense. We don’t really have a need for Jaquez, but he was recently a top 20 pick. If they want Herro, we should require they trade a 1st. Herro is a starting level scorer, one year of Buddy + a backup PG would not be enough.

I like this trade. A promising reclamation project, a young guy, a mentor for Scoot, and 4 1sts. Will still be bad enough to get a high pick, and we can still trade Grant or Ant eventually. I’ll take it.

Props to you @SharpesTriumph, this is my favorite one thus far.

This dude is positing that Portland is only talking to other teams to gauge interest in Herro. That Dame to Miami will be a done deal. I do not believe that at all. But, serious question, can Cronin, the GM of the Portland Trailblazers shop Tyler Herro around the league even though he is the property of the Miami Heat? If so, what stops a GM from proposing a trade for a player on another team that could create discord if the player found out he was being shopped? All kinds of reasons this should not be allowed. Misrepresentation could be huge. Seems like a tampering issue to me. Can they if the Heat gives Cronin permission? I really do not know, but do find an issue with it.

I think that’s pretty accurate

" If you don't do right by Dame" "Players are going to remember that".
This is such a stupid fucking argument and everyone who uses it is a fucking idiot.
It’s like people don’t know ownership will change by then.

I agree that if we do Dame dirty and trade him to some team with no chance of winning then players would remember that... which does have a huge effect on Joe's future, he has to be thinking about life after Jody and the Blazers.

Trading Dame to Toronto with Siakam, Barnes, Poeltl, Gary, Shroder, Boucher, McDaniels, Temple, Koloko etc. is definitely not doing wrong by Dame. That team would have to be seen as one of the two favorites in the East along with Milwaukee and the Heat would be far worse than they were last season.

Maybe some of these guys demanding trades now wish their GMs would have not granted their wishes? KD, Harden, etc?? They each shit the bed time and again.

We signed him to a Supermax. That’s what players should remember. Do we really want players that think “if I sign with Portland, they’ll trade me wherever I want whenever I want”?
