Times have changed. The fan base, at least a pretty decent number of them, are concerned about this team leaving in a couple of years to Seattle when the lease is up. I think it would be completely foolish for the front office to bring in a "Seattle guy"
paranoid fans who have no real grasp on reality have that fear.
If the team wanted to leave, they wouldn't upgrade the RG, they would've have bothered selling the naming rights. They would have already signed with comcast and not given a shit about the availability. They would tell damian to not embrace the community, they wouldn't have uniforms that say "rip city". One thing they would do is get rid of the radio announcer who was arguably the most important of the 4 guys in this issue (Wheels, Rice, Antonio and Barrett).
They would be setting many things in motion for the team to move.
Also, the earliest they can move is 2023. That't not for another SEVEN years.
As i said earlier in the thread, you're telling me that the NBA would be all hell bent on moving a team to Seattle, that hasn't had a team (at that time) in 17 years!? Talk about going into a dead market.
The NBA knows that old markets do not equal smart $$. Yes, they went to New Orleans after 20+ years, but that was a special circumstance. But notice that the team that did move to New Orleans (Charlotte) was quickly replaced.
Charlotte returned like 2 years later. Seattle hasn't had an NBA team in 8 years now. And they're no where near ready for a return.
Let's get off the paranoid spaceship folks.
