and they should be forced to have vasectomies until they retire also.

my friend had it right I think.
He said if he was a big sports star and got married, he'd have the understanding that he was going to have some ladies on the side when his team was out of town and if wifey wasn't down with that, no ring.

Then why bother getting married? Seems stupid if you're understanding is you're going to be with other people. Easy solution is just not to get married until you are ready.

You seem to define marriage as being entirely about making a monogamous commitment, for me (and obviously at the ripe old age of 22 this is mostly conjecture on my part) it's much more of an emotional and financial commitment. Maybe for some people making an emotional commitment requires monogamy, but certainly not everyone. Humans aren't, after all, naturally monogamist.Because there's little point to marriage unless you're willing to make the sacrifice to be monogamous. In fact, in the vast majority of marriages (including mine), it's not a sacrifice at all. An open marriage is just a bullshit facade. You can have a different opinion, and we'll agree to disagree.
I waited a long time to get married. Why? Before I met my wife, I dated four other women I would have married. However, I hadn't yet sowed my wild oats. Why would I marry someone if I still intended to sleep with someone else? Marriage means vows. I know that sucks for some people, but IMO those people shouldn't get married.
