OT MLB to PDX: We're talking baseball to PDX (2 Viewers)

Just to let everyone know. Seems like even with the virus and obvious shutdown issues the PDP is still keeping this alive on the logistics front. There was a meeting last week among fabricators/shops last week. We had some decent plans and bid options that were presented.
Is this still a thing to some of you?

I really hope it happens but it seems dead to me
Right now everything that has anything to do with professional sports is dead. But rest assured sports are not dead. The country is not going to stop watching sports.

With the lost revenue from the shut down it could push expansion to happen soon as a way for the owners to recoup a little bit of money.

huh? I was only referring to the pdp as dead, not all sports

even before all of this, there was little-to-no positive or encouraging news for the past year

I see you are not paying attention. I assure you there has been plenty going on. PDP is not dead by a long shot.

The Nashville Stars could be MLB's next team – and baseball's first Black-owned club

looks like portland has some heavy hitters in competing for a team through either expansion or if one of the d-rays/A's leave their current cities'.
The Music City Baseball group, led by businessman John Loar, former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and including Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum president Bob Kendrick, gained considerable clout Monday when former GM Dave Dombrowski joined the team

Nashville would be very attractive as its a spectacular city offering a variety of top notch entertainment, and unbelievably clean.

Portlands sports motto should be
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...

lots of things behind the scenes you know. Just keep waiting...lots of work being done....

lol

I hear PDP has put on 15 pounds of muscle.

I don't care if someone else made that joke first!

Still laughing that people thought this would actually happen
C'mon man! Don't be such a buzzkill. They have , maybe the finest retractable roof stadium design ready to go. The land, the backing. There will be 2 new teams eventually , and 2 existing teams (A's, Rays) that can't seem to seal the deal on a new stadium. Portland is in the running. Men with vision get things done. Ever heard of Harry Glickman.

Harry had more than a vision, he had a plan

Has there even been any kind of an official update on PDP?

They're still waiting on MLB to expand, which could happen to give owners a boost in revenue from expansion fees since they lost so much.

It means nothing either way that there hasn't been any activity.
They’re still trying to get 50k signatures. Pathetic.

My brother bought me a PDP hat for Christmas a couple years ago that I like and wear at least once a week. Has a cool old english P on it. Nobody knows what it stands for which makes me feel kind of cool.

They do have a plan. They have the stadium plan ready to go. They've had meetings with the Commish. They are in the discussion now. I'm sure Mike Barrett would love to show you that they have a plan.

you can understand why people are skeptical, right? I mean even more than the ones who always think they know more than everyone else.
