When that group got started they had Jerry Garcia. Ask Sly about the time he met and jammed with Jerry Garcia, it's a very cool story.

I have that album LOL

Go Mariners! Most fun season in a long while...putting Ichiro in the front office gave the team the boost it needed! Not really missing Cano after all!

Totally agree. I’d be cool with this, cause I could make an extra 50K a summer, but how boring!!!!! It’s just an unwatchable activity. How people get pumped up for a baseball game the same you would for a basketball or football game is just behind me. But it is America’s past time right?

Key word. PAST time.

Not anymore. It’s too slow and we want speed in every facet of our lives now.
I’ve never cared to watch it on tv but going to a game is a different world.
Baseball would thrive here as long as they keep the seats reasonably priced. I would entertain season tickets myself.

You’ve obviously never watched a SF Giants game at AT&T Stadium, playoffs or otherwise. Or attended a World Series victory parade. Shit gets real there. No freakin’ difference whatsoever compared to the other sports you mentioned. It’s all about what you’re into. But I get what you’re saying because that’s exactly how I feel about pro football. I’d rather watch paint dry......

And hats the key. Been AT or TO. Big difference from watching on a tv.

I think of all the majors, baseball has the largest gap in entertainment value from live to the tube.
Basketball sometimes seems better watching at home then at the game.

Weren't they supposed to have a site like a month ago? I realize these things take time but they've been pretty quiet for a while now, and all their Twitter account has been doing is hawking their hats and shirts....

You wouldn't like to think Mike Barrett was cheating people out of money for hats and shirts, but I guess he could be fooled too...

The theory that made sense to me was that this was a real estate scam.

Buy up some land for less than market value based on the romance of trying to lure a team, make a half-assed attempt to get the team, and then sell the land for profit when everything falls through. That sounds much more plausible.

They have to get the land first. It seems like the Portland Public Schools were trying to start a bidding war, so maybe that's the hold up.

Played lots of Baseball in my day and I still enjoy watching a good game, Im just not that convinced that baseball would be that easy of a sell in PDX anymore for the amount of games played at home along w/home stands of 2-3 games. Im sure early on there would be lots of excitement and they would do well, but with bb its got to be a long term commitment with either winning or losing.
It would help to enjoys some success early to keep momentum going and finicky fans attending. It wouldn't matter how small the venue is if they a perennial losers attendance will struggle.
With so many middle relievers and closers anymore the game has gotten way to long for young fans, imo.
I do hope it happens!

Barrett said in a recent interview that they are close to securing a stadium site, and would like to do so this month.

I don't think it is a real estate scheme, but if the stadium never happens they can go ahead and develop the land anyway. I think they are legit.

He did say that. He also said they have renderings of the stadium, so I heard.

Hmmmmm. Don’t things usually get quiet before something big happens?

I don't watch baseball anymore. It was my favorite sport for years. I just got sick and tired of being the only person of ny group of friends who was interested in it. It's just easier to follow football because at least you have something to talk about around the water cooler. Kudos if they can get it going in Portland but I don't care any more. The worst thing in the world is to love a sport that is dying in front of you. Well I am not sticking around for the wake.

I'm sorry to hear this. :( Football should never be watched, personally. But, I digress
