Sounds like the A's to Las Vegas deal is falling apart. Rumors are the A's are looking now at Salt Lake City.

From reading the story on ESPN, it looks more like they just need to figure out how to bridge the years until the stadium in Vegas is built.

My guess is they stay in Oakland until the end of the local TV contract. If they have $70M locked up, I doubt they could ever get that much money anywhere else.

Wow... that seems really high to me.

Even 30% would mean a higher percentage of people from Vancouver go to games than those from Portland.

I’d say the suburban folk are the biggest draw to Blazer games.

There are a good amount of season ticket holders here in Vancouver but would be shocked if the percentage was anywhere around 30-40%. Portland population is multiple times higher and surrounded by many more affluent areas. Not for sure if the Remix are any indication, but they have not drawn very well. It is tougher for friends that have to commute from the Hillsboro/Beaverton area but a very convenient drive for me here across the bridge. Hillsboro Hops and Eugene Emeralds are only drawing 2k as well so the low numbers may be just to it being minor league.

I do not like driving on 217 during busy times but would probably still make the trip occasionally if MLB were at the Red Tail location. It is not too far from where the Timbers/Thorns play and I have no problem going to 10-15 games a year.

Honestly, enough of the Washington county sports fans and the rest of the Portland fans who will go will be plenty to fill that stadium.

Remember they don’t build huge stadiums anymore. They make them smaller and more entertainment focused.

Anyone else think they're going to buy up the land, wait a few years, say "aww shucks we couldn't make it work" and then sell the land to a developer for a profit?

Well if MLB doesn’t choose them sure. But they did they best they can.

Then if the stadium isn't done by 2027, the A's will play in Yreka for 3 years.

Rumor is there looking at the Red Tail driving range. Plenty of space for a couple hotels where the old kingpins used to be in Cedar Hills Crossing.

Not sure what you mean? Kingpins is still in Cedar Hills Crossing.

Maybe he meant where the old beaverton bowl used to be (or whatever it was called??), off of Walker there ? It's basically an abandoned lot now.

Maybe it was Sunset lanes? Shit, it's been like 25+ years I bowled there.

We'll always be used as a stalking horse after MLB BEGGED us to take the Expos and we passed.

Did they pass, or did they realize that MLB was just using them as leverage to get a better deal with Washington DC?

Yep Sunset Lanes. I can’t see a big hotel going up there though.

a hotel yes, but you're right, not really a good spot (both size wise and traffic flow) for anything of merit.
