You know what else…… when texting, type “BALL” and look what comes up as an option….. you have to go to the second page with a volleyball, golf ball and meatball to find a baseball emoji…. dead serious. Just ain’t relevant anymore, as much as you want it to be.

I'd love to see MLB come to Portland, but does the spot by Tilicum Bridge have enough road and transportation access for a game day crowd? It's hard to imagine an extra 35,000 people showing up down there. I wanna hear the PDX baseball people address that. Maybe they already have?
It looks too tight to me. I didn’t see the retractable dome on those overlays they showed either.

A baseball stadium should be used as a catalyst for new development, the SoW(h)at district does not need this. Nothing will be gained.

The best place is industrial NW. There are businesses that need to be moved from that area. A stadium would help with this. Having a Forrest Park on one side and the river on the other would be gorgeous. It would help that area to redevelop. You could add the roads and light rail to that area much easier and cheaper.

I have always felt the T1 &T2 area was easily the best choice as well. Development would be the easiest and most cost efficient.
The one thing that both of these sites offer is river access for large materials on barge instead of trucks.
The SW site does have trolly and it can be upgraded and expanded but the Terminal site could have very easily added that or light rail.

T1 and T2 make too much sense. Not buying the Zidell site

Cheek said. “Now we can say Portland will have professional baseball in the heart of the city, along one of Oregon’s most iconic rivers.”

Oh so now it’s guaranteed? Why would he say this lol

He didn't make any guarantees.

Coincidence?

I'd guess the city leaders kinda realize how certain policies, while good at one time, have stifled things and stunted Portlands growth.

As much as I hate to say it, the urban growth boundary has outlived it's usefulness.

Why in the world would a baseball stadium need to build higher that 460 ft? Some of the Condo Towers in South Waterfront are in the 30o ft range - how could a stadium be higher that a Condo Tower?

Maybe they'll put a high rise in the stadium? It could be like the Sky Dome, where you can have a condo over looking the field.

Then the Diamond Project must have submitted some kind of preliminary plans that include a tower?

Not sure there would be any reason to have a tower involved with the stadium (tho I do think it would be cool to have some kind of a version of the space needle here).

Call it the Rose Tower, or something.
