...did MZags, or anyone else, already explain his terrible rebounding numbers for a 7 footer? :dunno: He is nowhere near the top 100! 6.8 RPG? Really? Why so low? And don't tell me some cacamayme reason like Gonzaga shooting the top 3 highest FG percentage or something.

Essentially 7 RPG in 25 minutes a game. That's about 9 rebounds a game adjusted to 36 minutes of play a game. Not bad at all. The top 3 FG% plays a small part as well. But, I don't think 9 rebounds per 36 minutes is bad.

...so then, are you saying he is a Power Forward or a Small Forward?! :dunno:
 
He'll be a great PF at the next level. Too much of a handle and versatile to have him relegated to the C position. He'll be able to guard 3 positions.

If you honestly think he has the lateral quickness to check a SF you're out your monkey ass mind.

I think he'll have trouble guarding a C who can put the ball on the floor. I like Olynyk, he can really score, but take the homer glasses off!

Olynyk now sitting at #12 on Nbadraft.net with his stock continuing to rise.
 
His lack of explosiveness bothers me but his skill on the offense end is something that would be hard to pass up if we're sitting there in the back end of the lotto.

I seem to recall a lot of people saying Kevin Love wouldn't make it in the NBA because he wasn't athletic enough. Luckily basketball is a game that doesn't require elite athleticism as long as you can make up for it with fundamentals and intelligence. There have been a lot of below-the-rim big guys who have had successful careers.
Personally I love it when big guys have the skills to handle and pass the ball. A C who can stretch the D out to the top of the key, and then has the ability to put the ball on the floor to get to the rim would be great to have. But I also want him to be able to protect the rim.
I don't watch NCAA so I can't speak of this Olynyk guy.

That wasn't the dunk I was talking about. It was a pick and roll throw down in the oppositions face. Then he did his version of the Mark Jackson shimmy shake back down the court.

He's a Kaman/Scola type of athlete.

His 'quick leap' is that of Slavko Vranes.

But I'd still take him in the mid/late lotto.

Which is why I'm for drafting Olynyk.

Drafting athletes over real skill/basketball players is getting tiring.

If he's a step away from the free throw line, he's a step away from the rim too. His right foot is in the middle of the key.

I am a big Zags fans a well. I think Olynyk is closer to Bargs then Dirk but that is fine for a late lottery pick. It just isn't fine to be Bargs at a top 3 pick.

Kids has the fundamentals. That is a great start.
