Mystery still clouds Oden's Blazer status

If its true he doesn't give a fuck about us fans, then I don't give a rats ass about him.

Is it true? What evidence do you have? It seems like you're getting very upset based entirely on wild ass speculation, conjecture and assumptions.

Remember, the ENTIRE basis for this article by Eggers was a single "no comment" from Oden. I have yet to see him quoted saying that he doesn't give a fuck about us fans (well YOU fans, I happen to know he cares deeply about me).

BNM

The tone is simple. If its true he doesn't give a fuck about us fans, then I don't give a rats ass about him. If he's on the court and even plays a very average game, I will still support him 100%. This is how I feel about most everyone on the team, when they are on this team.

If Oden decides its not in his best interest to spend additional years in Portland I don't see how that equates to "he doesn't give a fuck about us fans"

He never had a choice on coming to Portland, he never asked to work in Portland, he never asked for you to be a super passionate fan of his, that was other peoples choice. Again I hope he and the team can come to a mutually beneficial agreement but if it isn't a good situation for him and the team to have him resign theres nothing personal or over the top emotional about it. It's been a horrific experience for him so far so I will be sad if he leaves but I can't particularly blame him for wanting to put an end to probably the worse chapter of his life.

I know there are plenty of people that will hold it against him, but it's not like he chose to get hurt and it's not as though anybody but Paul Allen will have actually lost anything tangible -- It's his 20+ million after all, not the fans'.

A complete whiff on this one.

The fans tangible loss is that they explicitly suffered through years (YEARS!) of really crappy teams, with the stated objective to shed the team of malcontents and embarassments and to rebuild the team through the draft with the picks they would get by losing so many games.

The Blazers had the worse record in the NBA the year prior. In that sense the fans "deserved" the tangible of a top pick. They got it.

They have received none of the benefits of that top pick. It is entirely rational for those fans to be a little upset if that which they lost, pulls a switchero.

So you are fine with him taking less to go somewhere else? Because we hold his Bird rights and the only team that can offer him more than any other team. That's saying "I don't give a fuck about you fans or team"

Now if he gets an offer and our team thinks it's too steep; then why would we be pissed with him going to the better offer? I wouldn't. Keep in mind that my "passion" is based only on the possibility he bolts. That would mean "Taking less to go somewhere else". That's personal and not business.

Well maybe that's because his body just isn't made for the rigors of basketball? I'm sorry, but I will never understand the argument to make injuries into some kind of moral bankruptcy issue with Greg ... Maybe with some players, but I just don't think that's what's happening here.

Terrible eating habits.

Drinking.

Partying.

yeah, it is moral.

i for one would like a healthy oden added to this team...will it happen? apparently NOBODY knows

wtf

I'll be sad if he leaves but if he doesn't want to be in Portland I don't want him here. I hope he wants to stay and enjoys being around his teammates and the organization and the city but if he doesn't then he doesn't.

Maybe he wants to spend more time with family, maybe he is really close to his mom and a few friends. He's already spent 5 years way the heck up here in the Northwest so yes I hope he can stay but if he'd rather be in another city its his choice. What if his mom has health problems and he wants to be closer to her, would you still burn his jersey?

Being a fan may be the be all end all to what you expect from Blazers but sports are a tiny part of somebodies life and if he would have a more fullfilling life in a different part of the country and is effectivly willing to pay money to get that, I won't think any less of him as a person.

I'm not upset that Greg is hurt nor have i ever said I was... I'm a bit supect on why this rehab is taking him into next year... but my only gripe has been, if he can play why would he bolt a franchise that infact way overpaid him for doing jack shit? He has sell out crowds to play in front of and an owner who loves to spend. To leave and go somewhere else without giving Ptown a real go seems unfair to all parties involved.

Do I think a capable able Greg Oden owes Ptown that much? You bet!

So given the opportunity, should he turn down less money to play here?

He hasn't earned the money he's gotten so far! I guess you're okay with being ripped off? Isn't that more the question?

People call me a cynic.....but not even I have gotten to the point of saying that the fans have no right to expect *anything* from the team.
