While I agree with this, the players had tuned him out and quit on him. He didn't deserve that as he's a good person and a good coach. But there are times when a team has to change directions. This was the time to do so.

They didn't change directions, they went with the flow. They let the inmates run the asylum.

Any real business owner would have canned the slackers. The next hire-ons would put forth an honest effort.

Did anyone see the comments by some in the organization about nate, they were really weak. Aldridge said "a really hardworking coach". KP "a good coach and better person". And PA only thanked him for his years of service.
I guess he went out with a below .500 win percent.

I know in the Knicks game there were a lot of shots of him on the sideline, standing up, leaning forward, jaw thrust out, the picture of intensity and maybe a little puzzlement. That's how I will remember him. I wish he had been capable of more change and adjustment, but he really is a great man with a big heart and I will miss him.

It wasn't the losses alone, it was the way this team was losing. He had absolutely lost the ear of his players and they weren't going to be playing for him. It was time ... long past in my opinion.

Nate was a very solid coach. I will always respect his professionalism. Other players, coaches and GM's have great respect for him as a coach. He will get an opportunity to coach when ever he is ready. I think he should take off a year and re-energize. He needs a small break.

But all coaches eventually move on. It was Nate's time, just like it was time for Jack Ramsey to move on. Hopefully the Blazers will find an Adelman and not a Schuler to succeed him. It won't be easy.

Sorry I don't spend my entire day on here, I understand the frequency of my posting diminishes the validity of my posts.

The truth of the matter is that Nate didn't lose half or more of the games, just like he doesn't win half or more of the games. When Portland fails to be as successful next year as it did in Nate's best year, it won't be because the new coach is worse either.

It's funny how the same people who blamed Nate for the losses also blamed Cheeks and Mike D. I've always said it takes the least amount of critical thinking to blame the coach, but it's rarely the main reason for a teams failure.
