They are going young and are about to draft another first round pick. They would be happy to move him and get two first rnd picks this year to add to their young roster.

That said, what's to stop them from being greedy and saying they want the 7th or if we trade it for the 9th and #25 or #13 and #15, from saying they want the better of the two picks. If the Blazers really want Grant, they can dictate the price.
That's why I've already said that my prediction is that we move back to 13 and 15, give the Pistons 13 for Grant and draft Dieng with 15. Our front office will act like they're the ones that got over on everybody and it will make me sick. That being said, if Dieng can seriously contribute any time soon, we will be a better team than we have been in a while.

I also could see Detroit taking Duren. He'd go nice next to Stewart at PF, and Bey at SF. That's a nice youthful front court with Cunningham facilitating.

I disagree. They have young players (Stewart , Bey) who need more minutes. Grant doesn't fit anymore.

But, they have what we want. If the Blazers really want Grant. They have the steak hanging on a wire in front of our noses. They get to dictate the asking price for that steak.

Even if Grant doesn't fit anymore, which he doesn't and they plan to move him, they have the chips.

So their gm is as bad as ours and will just give up a player for peanuts?

No, unfortunately not. And, I think in fact many here may be underestimating Detroit's asking price. The assumption is being made that we just trade down and give them a shitty late 1st this year and our future shitty Milwaukee 1st and they will hand over Grant.

I mean, I don't think we would be the only team.in the league trying to convince themselves Grant is our missing piece (which is hilarious). There would be a bidding war, not a ok Portland, we will let you move down and we will gladly take the worse of the picks you have just because.
That will be the line the front office will be selling Cronin and he'll likely buy it but it's not the truth. Grant is asking for a big extension and there aren't any other teams that can just absorb his current salary besides OKC who won't want someone his age. So we don't have competition that can let them shed his contract while adding to their group of young talent.

I honestly don't know why people are so opposed to Portland tanking this season. Portland did the opposite of tanking since the Aldridge team dissolved and it got them nowhere. Portland should have tanked the shit out of the bubble season. Not tanking that year was stupid.

the biggest single move over the last decade was drafting Dame at 6. Teams like Portland need to cycle thru higher lottery picks until they build a contender. They aren't going to sign elite tree agents

The only guy i see Cronin trading the 7th pick for would be John Collins. Who for whatever reason hasn't meshed with Young. Youngs been in love with Capella since he got there. Collins might be available.

I think that's the least they will take but I hardly think that we'll get him for that little. It will probably be the 13th pick and it might even be the 13th pick and the Bucks 2025 first.

That I would be down with. Not sure Atlanta would be though. They'd want more probably.

They seem to want to retool their roster, and could use the cap relief. If there's a player at 7 they like, it might be possible, and the Blazers could potentially send Bledsoe's expiring along with it.

Who else wants his salary? Detroit does not. Portland can give them the advantage of not taking back salary. That is an asset as well.

What's Sourpuss up to these days?

No idea. Glad he is no longer our GM. He'd be used car selling make believe contingencies while eating the defeated hope of Blazer fans like a demon eating souls.

True. They are still going to try and squeeze us for everything they can. They are at least going to try.

They don't have to move him. They can wait until the deadline if they need to. We are less likely to wait because Dame probably wants some help now.

Why do they have to salary dump him? He is expiring. You think Detroit can sign free agents?

I wouldn't hate that trade and with the addition of Collins, I would feel comfortable doing whatever small thing is necessary to guarantee our pick to Chicago for next year and then I'd overpay in future draft picks for Grant our 2025 and 2027 and the Bucks 2025.

Dame, Ant, Grant, Collins, Nurk, Hart, Nas, Justise and a big we get with a second rounder or the TPMLE. That would be a team that I could see making noise in the playoffs.

Now that the Blazers failed to move up, getting Grant is the way to appease Dame because he wants to play with him.

The important thing is that Detroit thinks they can. They have stated as much. They just might be counting on it.

You're right that they could definitely wait us out and if they did that to try to get us to overpay then we should move on to something else but that tactic would likely work on Cronin.

sure...they'll try....and screw Cronin if he capitulates. I'd hate Portland giving up the 7th pick for Grant. There is no significant upside with Grant. There could be massive upside to whoever is picked at 7

I would not give up the 7th pick for Grant. And for damn sure I would not give up the 7th pick AND the TPE for Grant. It would have to be Bledsoe, preserving that TPE for some other option

Soooo are you a Season ticket holder or just someone who doesn't understand the NBA lottery? Seems like the latter eh? IDGAF about the exact price of upper deck season tickets which is irrelevant anyways cause your point is dead wrong and you're damn right I stay home and watch it for free. I love going to live games in seasons that matter we haven't had one in a while. I watched WCF against Magic and the Lakers in 1991, I watched WCF vs Kobe and Shaq in 2000. Only WCF appearance I've missed since I've been alive was against GSW for the beat down (what's the point of that?) and then the 1990 WCF because I was like 12 and my dad wouldn't throw down the cash that year. I saw Roy's hand switch against Bosh from 7 rows back and have seen innumerable games, but again unless you are a season ticket holder you have zero reason/right to complain so yeah.
You think you have the right to complain about me not liking the team tanking but don’t think I have the right to complain about it when the team tanks and gets nothing for it but a 7th pick in a weak draft.
Seriously if you think I care what you think you really got me wrong here.
Your assumptions and positions are weak and you simply don’t have any right to tell me what or how I should feel.
Have a good night. Hope you enjoy the draft.

Guys...guys ... We have two seconds...that's where we get our good players.

Grant is forcing his way to portland. I know that’s hard to believe but it’s happening.
We will use #7 to trade for another player
That's the only way we get Grant for future draft capital. If we can trade #7 and Bledsoe for a guy like John Collins (the Collins we should have drafted) and get the protection removed from the pick we owe Chicago, I think we could get Grant for that Bucks pick, our 2025 and 2027 pick hopefully with some lotto or top ten protections on them.

wait 3 firsts for grant….? I think you’re going to be happy when the trade happens
