OT NBA season suspended & NCAA cancelling all sports for coronavirus

Just wait--next CBA lockout, owners are going to demand that if in future they ever have to play games without allowing fans in, part of it comes out out the player salary pool.

Partially kidding, partially not.

I see in one article it says fans will be reimbursed for the amount they paid for their tickets. I wonder what happens to tickets that have been sold second hand. Does the person holding the ticket get the reimbursement or the person who originally bought the ticket. This is going to be a mess.

It already does. The salary cap is based on a percentage of the basketball related income. Last year gate revenue accounted for 25.1% of that BRI. This is going to be a major loss.

the media had blown this way out of proportion. it isn't a plague. good lord.

Although I agree, it is pretty much a plague if you are over 60. I'm not, so I'm looking to book some real cheap flights.

Hopefully most of the other NBA teams don't follow this.
How sad would it be for Nurk if his 'return game' on Sunday is without fans....
Well then, I'd be glued to my TV.

This loss of revenue after the China shit during the preseason must have some of those owners upset

Saw one of the NBA reporters tweet that the league is considering postponing the schedule - which would help us obviously.

Unfortunate, but there are bigger fish to fry. Nurk will play in front of fans plenty of times in the upcoming season.

maybe, but the last I heard was the vaccine won't be available for 12-18 months; and there's a good chance that the rate of infection will slow down during the summer but come back big time next fall and winter. If a vaccine isn't widely available till a year from now, next season could be toast

Hopefully all other teams pull their heads out of their asses and do the same.

you really need to watch the video that Sly posted on page 6 of the 'OT - NBA preparing for coronavirus' thread. An expert on infectious diseases is being interviewed and he's talking about a model that says it could require 48 million hospitalizations, 96 million cases, and over 480,000 deaths. Sure sounds like a plague to me

I hope you're right. I hope we'll look back on all this and laugh about all the panic and overreactions.

But what if you are not.

At this point it doesn't matter since we're taking all of these steps to prevent the spread.
