The picks could change to different years but this is the best I can come up with using the "known" components of the trade. GS actually ducks below the tax line which would be huge for them not going into the repeater tax next season. They'd also generate a decent TPE for this summer. Houston remains under the tax line as well.

I don't know why Houston wants to trade Capela and a 1st for Covington but that seems like what they're willing to do according to reports. It makes sense for the most part for the other 3 teams.

Here’s Covington vs Harkless this year. I mean get the fuck out of here.

Do they really think they can run with a center rotation of Tucker and Chandler for the playoffs? seems mad

They're 2-0 playing an all under 6'8" lineup so now they think it's a good idea.

Morey is at the top of my “GM that is evidently good but is actually shit” list. I’ve never gotten the sense he ever has a plan. He’s just a starfucker.

I think one of our key takeaways here from what HOU is doing right now should be to structure our payroll with tradeable contracts moving forward. The main reason Capela is always the name mentioned is because he has a mid-size contract that other teams want. Unfortunately for them, he's the only one who has a contract that isn't a super max or a minimum on their team.

We will be in a similar boat next season with Nurk's deal as one of the only moveable pieces we have for an impact player. It's why bringing back Ariza's 12.8 mil deal makes perfect sense; also why having a guy like Dieng (16 mil) or Carroll (7 mil) to serve as fillers isn't exactly a bad thing.

I’m probably in minority but I’d be ok with no trade this year. All the pieces we are missing are in street clothes and should be back soon. Ariza was a great pickup and seems to be what we were missing.

we have nice mix of vets and youth, bigs, and scorers. I feel we match up with any team besides maybe Clips just because they have a great group of defenders.

just got to squeak our way in to playoffs

I’d be aiight with no trade. The Ariza trade filled the biggest need, assuming Nurk and Collins return sometime within the next month or so. I think there are players out there that could help us, like a point guard for example, but I don’t think a move is as imperative as it was before the Ariza trade. I would love to dump Mario and Swanigan though.

From the supposed Hawks' insider who had all the details about the MIN-HOU-ATL thing.

One more major update:

Spurs have been really looking potential deals involving DeRozan. Charlotte and Memphis has shown some interest.

They have also been putting out fillers on LMA and Rudy Gay. Could be a firesale in San Antonio. Nothing concrete yet.

Finding this hard to believe given their history, but they prolly want to extract some value out of their aging vets and expiring deals.

Aldridge and Carroll for Whiteside and Mario works hehehe
Sean Elliot, their announcer, absolutely loved Hassan from his commentary the last time we played them. We'd obviously have to throw in some youngins or assets to actually get that done unfortunately.

agree but I don’t worry to much about two guys who won’t see the court when our injured players return.

Whiteside, Skal, and our pick, top 5 protected.

Nice to read Henry again. His truehoop blog was truly revolutionary. Pretty much led to the current NBA sources/rumors/blogosphere. And he's a Blazer fan.

Or they want to make the playoffs, depth is good, and they are also interested in bringing him back next year.

I love these hypothetical games because anyone can play.

It's a gamble. But imo I don't think Whiteside's offers will be 10-15mil range.
He's not a max player.
Then that gives Portland two movable contracts along with Nurk's.

To say that Hassan won't see minutes until the second half is asinine. There is no chance of that happening. Or at least I hope not.

The rotation does get a bit wonky but I don't think it's that big of a deal this season. Nurk and Zach might only be limited to 20-25 mins/ game.

Scale back both Melo's and Hassan's 32 mpg to 26, and you get 22 mins for Zach and Nurk to play. Just go based on matchups to figure out who should close the games and don't change the starters now. I think Nurk won't cause a problem coming off the bench as he's rehabbing anyway, and Zach is the same way. This will obviously become an issue next year, but worry about it then. Even some of Ariza's minutes can probably go to Trent/Little. These old dudes shouldn't be playing 30+ nightly.

I'll just be glad Caleb won't see the floor any more.

Not really having a go at you in particular, but it’s getting kind of old seeing Nurks name tossed in proposals or talked about as a “movable” contract. The dude is a franchise pillar along with Dame (he’s more valuable than CJ), only 25, a borderline top 5 center, and has one of the best contracts in the league. Who could possibly Portland get back of equal or greater value? It’s just silly and a waste of time.

Completely agree....except that the 'pillar' has had a crack in it so far. Nurk has struggled to stay on the court having averaged around 50 games per season in 6 years. I'm not advocating moving him either....instead, having a legit back-up might actually be a necessity.

PF: Melo and Collins
C: Whiteside and Nurk

I guess I’m failing to see the numbers crunch? Seems pretty simple. Skal has played well but he can go back to his intended role; insurance. Ariza, Trent, and Nas can gobble up the minutes on the wing. If anyone gets their minutes cut it’ll be Simons with CJ running the second unit.

Yeah that’s why I’m willing to go as high as $12M to keep Whiteside. Even if Nurk plays every game, you still need a legit backup considering how much responsibility portlands scheme puts on their center. I know they’ve got Collins but the plan was for him to be the starting power forward. That wouldn’t/shouldn’t change regardless of whether they keep Melo or not.

I completly agree with you. but i have a question why do you think so? i want to know the reason because i don't understand at all.

I wouldn't move nurk personally.
But I knew if I brought up Whiteside getting a contract similar to Nurk's next year. Then I left Nurk's name out of being a movable piece. I'd get a snarky response.
But I also knew I'd get a response like yours. So... Perhaps I shouldn't have even posted.. Which is what I do most of the time. That way I wouldn't have had anyone get upset.

He is a great GM, he's the opposite from Neil.
He is diligent, he'll give opportunities to unwanted players and form winning teams out of thin air.

Harden for fucking Kevin Martin... Tucker,Daniel House,Rivers,Faried,Nene etc for free. Capela, Harell as draft steals.

I have ZERO belief that bringing in Westbrock was his idea btw. No way a math\analytics guy who believes in threes wants Russel on his team.

im not upset I just like to point out stupidity. My bad.
