Does anyone else think GS is running the same script the Spurs did in 97 when The Admiral was hurt? Just endure a year of suck and reload with talent when everyone returns.

I liked Skal but let's be honest, he's a backup at best

Golden State is thinking that Wiggins is exactly the wing they need next year when Curry and Thompson return. Russell is redundant. And they get a lottery 1st?
No, a protected first and second for next year, and they gave up the guys they drafted in the first round the last two years

Looks like Hollinger was right lol.

Help me understand

Skal salary is 2.3M
We sent him along with 2M, so a savings of 300k*2 (600k).

Is that really it? WTF?

assume about 2/3 of his salary has been paid. So the Blazers save 700-800K in salary. But his full salary is applied to the tax, so the tax on his salary was probably in the 3.6M range.

Blazers would save 4.4-4.5M total, less whatever cash they are sending

I thought the 1st was top-three protected this year and unprotected next year. And those 1st round picks were pretty much 2nd rounders with guaranteed contracts.

I love this move for GS.

I missed the protection. The pick in question is for next year, not this upcoming draft in 2020.

Well it does two things.

1. Getting out of the tax this year will not make us a repeater next year.
2. Opens up a roster spot.

This wasn't just an immediate financial saving.
I didn't think of that; opening up a roster spot. Is there still a chance for something better today?

Timberwolves 2021 pick protected to No. 3, and becomes unprotected in 2022, per sources. Minnesota kept pushing for Russell, who it has wanted since summer free agency and finally got the point guard Gerssson Rosas imagined pairing with KAT.

Yes, that's right. Thanks for the correction. You know you're getting old when you forget what year it is!

I think we're gonna trade Hassan.

And will acquire two players.

And get under the tax, barely.

Hassan + Mario for Favors + Miller. Inches us ever so close to the tax line.

When someone posts a Twitter link, all I see is the Twitter bird in the window and can't open the tweet. Does anyone else have that problem or know the solution? (Chrome on Win10)

I think Gabriel might be ok in this league. Like a role player type guy. Never know. I liked Skal too though.

That's just it, they were a bit on the redundant side and Skal has had a few more years already and more polished at this stage, but nobody knows what the extent of his injury is. Maybe Gabriel can match or exceed Skal's potential, but if not, there are others out there that can replace that role. This forum tends to over value end of the bench type players.

Interesting idea. I have to admit that the trade deadline in the NBA is always a lot of fun to watch.

Most active trade deadline in years and Neil is sitting on the sidelines because of a 4 game win streak... wasting Whiteside’s expiring contract... and in the process, Dame’s prime

CLE's got something else going on. Now they have Drummond/Thompson/Love/and Nance all taking up big money.
Agree I guess it doesn't have to happen, but it seems like there would need to be some other things going on there to make that make sense, probably Thompson as he seems like the one who really wouldn't fit.

Has Miami got Gallinari yet? I still want to get in there and get
Schroder somehow. Or else I am going to throw a tantrum! :)
